No, the update didn't fix the corrupt saves. I downloaded and installed the patch when it came out and I only had the error today. It's still 'Under Investigation' over on the Gearbox technical support forum.

I realize no one can say with 100% certainty... but if I purchase a 360 from a major retailer, it's pretty much assured to have the newer chipset/heatsink/etc and have the NXE*, correct? Chances are pretty good I won't be able to update it.

*I couldn't care less about this, but I do want to be able to rip games to the HDD and lessen the strain on the drive, etc.

Pretty much, but check the system's birthday anyway (shift the box aside through the little slit at the top with the bar code). If it's made after August '08, you're good.

And trust me, the NXE in and of itself is worth it. Can't even fathom going back to the old blades.

I've waited 4 years to take the plunge, because the system is an unreliable piece of shit. This has not done much to change my tune.

If the power supply causes the three red wings just removing the plug and resetting it should work. Mine does that fairly often for some reason.

Tried it. No luck. The normal channels for a new power supply require a gamertag, which I do not have. I shot out an email to MS support.

*edit- thanks BillyG! I did just that, and it started working. Power supply light is still green though, which it isn't supposed to be(? Some sites say orange, some say green). So I have no idea if I'm skating on thin ice now.

1 vs 100 is back, now with achievements! They've tweaked the presentation a bit but the general questions are still pretty easy.

I've only ever played 1 vs. 100 by myself. I feel like playing with a party would be much more fun. I just have no friends.

There's an achievement where all four people in the group need to get an instant answer streak of 3. I think that will require playing with friends because most randoms are not too sharp. I will play with you, matches.
