I thought this was odd too - on my first viewing of the film I thought it was going somewhere but then nothing came of it. It's like arming your hostages with loaded guns and making them hold them to their own heads.

Well, if they did throw their grenade, there's a pretty good chance of getting shot. It's not like the robbers were defenseless.

Ok, this one is less of a "movie stuff" than it is a "videogame stuff", but... I only just realized that the bullet hole in the FC2 logo (The hole can be found in the letters A and R) is in the shape of a sideways Africa (The games primary setting)

EDITED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL INFO : I've replaced all postings where I was wrong about the shield battle damage in KOH with a message that reflects the new information that's come to light since I initially posted

Please do not abuse the edit function. Seriously.

Ah ok, did not think I was abusing it, as I'd seen other people do the same with their posts before. I was feeling bad I'd made a dumb error, and wanted to show that I was aware I'd annoyed people with my inaccurate "movie stuff" thing. Anyway, sorry if this also was the wrong move!

This made me look up the film on IMDB, where I just learned that Cloris Leachman had her scenes cut out of the film.

Flipped past The Dark Knight on HBO last night, and I don't know how I missed it before, but when the cop is emptying the Joker's pockets at the lock-up, the last knife he pulls out is actually a potato peeler. Which is kind of funny and kind of sickening to think about.

Hahaha. I forgot about that moment. Didn't the actor taking the knives out do a double-take with his hands right then?

Which is why I can't believe I didn't notice it before. Guess I always took it as a "Jesus, another one?" reaction.

I just realized that Phillip Baker Hall, who of course plays the titular "Sydney" in PTA's film, ALSO plays what seems to be an earlier version of the same character in Midnight Run.

I'm sure some of you know this, as PTA must've mentioned it in some commentary or something somewhere. Seems like something he'd do.

Eventually he complained about his playing time and his contract and got traded to The Replacements.

One could only hope that she was reprising her role from Beerfest and that her scenes entailed the crazy, sexual shenanigans Great Gam Gam got up to in France.

There are people that actually hate the ending to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The Monty Python documentary that was on a few weeks ago seemed to indicate that the fellas weren't too fond of it either.

It's a fun gag ending, but it pales in comparison to the fucking masterful ending of Life of Brian.

I was reading on Wiki, that Dr. Strangelove originally ended in a giant pie fight, instead of nuclear war:

Accounts vary as to why the pie fight was cut. In a 1969 interview, Kubrick said: "I decided it was farce and not consistent with the satiric tone of the rest of the film." Critic Alexander Walker observed that "the cream pies were flying around so thickly that people lost definition, and you couldn't really say whom you were looking at." Nile Southern, son of screenwriter Terry Southern, suggested the fight was intended to be less jovial. "Since they were laughing, it was unusable, because instead of having that totally black, which would have been amazing, like, this blizzard, which in a sense is metaphorical for all of the missiles that are coming, as well, you just have these guys having a good old time. So, as Kubrick later said, 'it was a disaster of Homeric proportions

And no Slim Pickins riding a bomb like a cowboy.

You're an idiot.

I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of the ending of Holy Grail and it annoys me that so many pick it as their favourite Python when Life of Brian is a perfect comedy.

You've Got Mail runs 35 less minutes than I thought (stills feels way too long though).

And while 80's Tom Hanks is on fire on that one, I somehow miss the 90's Meg Ryan.

Apparently Buzz the elevator guy in The Hudsucker Proxy, Marge (and Norm) in Fargo, and Bunnie Lebowski in The Big Lebowski are all related - they all have the last name Gunderson!

I don't know about Buzz, but I'm 100% sure Bunny's last name is not Gunderson, but rather something along the lines of Knudsen.

In an early draft of the script when DaFino (Jon Polito's private Dick) shows up he reveals Bunnie Lebowski's real name in the line, "The Gundersons. It's a wandering daughter job. Bunny Lebowski, man. Her real name is Fawn Gunderson. Her parents want her back." (by the time the movie was shot it was changed to Knutsen).

So there's that.

As for Buzz,

Here is a big one I spotted by chance this afternoon. I was spacing out and watching Koyaanisqatzi. All of a sudden there was a rapid fire montage of tv images. Even Thoth it was on screen for less that a second, I spotted he infamous visage of none other than Lou Dobbs. This is the first time I ever noticed that while watching the movie
