Regarding 'The Stunt Man': If you can, get the 2 disc version of the DVD that contains the documentary 'The Sinister Saga of Making The Stunt Man'. It's a fun and informative documentary that goes into great detail regarding the struggles that Richard Rush went through to get this film made. Peter O'Toole is in it (circa 2000), and his contributions to it are pretty insightful.

Regardless of how you feel about the movie itself, you will come out of it with a whole new appreciation for just HOW GOOD Peter O'Toole is. He should have won an Oscar for this.

Great picks, Judas. We're the same age, and I forget that some of our "staples" have slipped through the cracks for some youngsters.

'El Aura' was fantastic, Phil.

I'm glad that you've seen both of my films, Phil. I look forward to your contributions to my thread.

I'm just picking on Tati. I will try to revisit them before I post. I'll probably bump them ahead of El Aura to do so.

I'm also going to try and rewatch them both this week. I've rewatched 'The Stuntman' recently, but WH,BH deserves another viewing before I can comment on it.

Just rented the stuntman, will be all over that bitch tonight. My store doesn't have "...hunter", so i may have to go further afield to get that one...

If i can't find it, I may just have to rent el aura again. Great fucking movie.

For July: Ben Thomas will be selecting the movies. I wanted to put this out there now so that everyone gets a chance to add his movies to their netflix queues.

Ben, the floor is yours!

- as a reminder, my thread for 'White Hunter, Black Heart' and 'The Stuntman' is still going.

Next month, August.

Picking: Moltisanti.

This is gonna be a great discussion (I hope) and for some people, they're gonna be discovering a really, really great film. None of that Lawn Dogs shenanigans this month.

Molt, over to you, fine sir.

Yes, by all means Molt. Just - as a personal favor - try not to make them extremely hard to find epics starring Reb Brown or Gary Daniels. I really want to participate this time. I'm already planning on doing whatever is necessary. Don't push me to do unspeakable things.

My choices for the month are:

I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978) d. Robert Zemeckis

Shampoo (1975) d. Hal Ashby

Madcap innocence vs. satirical cynicism!

Get ready to laugh! (Hope! Hope!)

(Thread will be up soon)

Wow, it's been twenty two years at least since I've seen I Wanna Hold You Hand. Remembering it as a trifle, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Shampoo is greatness.

Most of the people that started this never got into it. EVery beginning of the month we get the same stories "Sorry i haven't been watching, i'll watch this month" and it never happens.

I worked 14 hours today, if it's any consolation. And still have El Aura from Netflix! But I don't wnat to watch a movie in 20 minute bursts while dozing off or answering email.

Yes, it is,Phil!

I just bought it in the throes of post-Remasters/RockBand Beatle-mania!

I used to find it trifle too, Keith, but it's grown on me alot. On my early vintage Zemeckis meter-not quite USED CARS great, but better than 1941.

SHAMPOO is my favorite Ashby. A perfect film.

Look forward to reading all of your feedback.

Looking forward to it, I saw shampoo years ago but I've never heard of i wanna - sounds good though.

Phil, take your time, it's all meant to be fun - if people can't watch these things it's OK - but do try and watch El Aura it's totally worth it.

'El Aura' needs to be at the top of your list, Phil. Tati dropped a real classic on us with that one.

Anderson picked out two interesting movies, yet only 388 people in the whole community have even bothered reading the thread. What is wrong with everybody? Is there no film curiosity whatsoever??? Do we really want this to die?

I am going to watch White Dog tonight!
And Magnificent Obsession next week.

But yeah, the lack of response from this community to the club is kinda baffling.
