Sounds more like you're being honored, which is way better than getting an award.

I was talking about pot.

Once they go live my Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz Blu-ray reviews will be numbers 600 and 601. That's as many as Roger Ebert. Yes it is. Yes it is. Shut-up.

The owners of the restaurant that I used to work at called me today and said they found an unclaimed check from December of 2007 for a hundred and five dollars and some change that they are reissuing and sending to me this week.

It begs the question of how they're only just finding it nearly two years later, but hey, free hundred bucks and some change. Who am I to argue?

It's going to hopefully good use too, half to savings and half to my first 21st birthday present:

Fueling Dan Akroyd's insanity one expensive bottle of vodka at a time.

I'd advise against it... since his vodka tastes like freshly distilled sock squeezings, but you won't listen.

A short film I worked on got a Staff Pick on Vimeo! They probably hand these out like candy, but it's still cool to have our work be recognized!

http://www.vimeo.com/staffpicks#6531040

The shameless plug thread I started about the short.

I'm in Grad School and got behind during the Spring Semster. I had an incomplete in my Bible as Literature class (don't get me started). I finished my paper and turned it in last week. My current transcirpt has an "A" on it now and I've kept my 4.0. So far....

As of today my trial period for my job is over. And I am still not fired.

So it looks like I can stay in my job for the time being which is a nice thing in our day and age to have.

If anybody of you ever comes to this backwards area of the globe, remeber, drinks are on me!

6lbs from my first weight loss milestone. So damn thrilled. If I worked harder I would have hit it a month ago, but hey, loss is loss.

OK, got a couple of patents filed this week and was co-inventor on one filed last week. So I can officially call myself an inventor.

Next goal, to achieve the level of mad scientist, followed by a fatal accident caused by a futile attempt at world domination.

Congrats everyone!

Lots going on up in here, up in here... I got a 4% raise at work, I've lost a few inches from my waistline (still got to hit the gym more often though!), and I'm being considered for a new job (whether it'll be full-time or freelance isn't clear... yet).

AND I got my NJ Homestead Rebate check! AND I'm caught up again at work, and both my bosses are out until Monday! AND my 1-year old niece called me "daddy" last Friday at my sister-in-law's birthday party, which left me all warm and toasty and ready to pay for the kid's college education.

Now... I must rest.

Good luck, and hopefully the boss doesn't mournfully offer you sex with him in lieu of a raise due to economical hard times.

Not really a personal achievement but more of a personal realization. My daughter just passed the 18 month mark. She is beautiful, healthy and a holy terror to the cats. That's a pretty nice thing for a guy who was told four years ago he'd likely never have a child. Life's good.

I threw a 670 last night bowling (239, 179, 252), and have worked my average up to 200 after 7 weeks. First time I've broken through the mythical 200 average ceiling, which means I'll probably drop it right back down again after game 1 next week.

Not to be outdone, a guy on the other team with a 196 average (I had a 197 going into the night) threw a 769--233, 257, 279. So I guess it was a good night for all of us.

After over four years away, I finally move back to New York City on Monday. There are a lot of different factors and reasons for the move, but to go into them would be too long and worth nobody's time. But when I left the city, I had taken it for granted, and I wanted to be handed a life, rather than work for it. I spent the next four years working at summer camps, the last two in a very remote area of the Catskills, and I missed the city everyday I was gone. I'm still learning and figuring out what I want to do with my life, although I do know that it involves the arts, and being part of an artisic community that I just can't get anywhere but New York. And to be moving down there without a job (but with enough savings to get by for a while) is a big leap, my thoughts alternating between "oh shit, what did I do?" and "what do I do now?" this past week (my last at my current job). Then I remember that it's time for me to move back and that I'm ready to work, to live in the real world, for the self-imposed exile to end and my real life to begin.

Bowled my first ever official 700 series last night. I'd bowled one many moons ago, but it was during a specialized tournament where 9s counted as strikes and splits counted as spares. I threw a 227, 244, and a 239 for a 710. But we only won the first game. Argh.

Also, sort of a personal achievement, as he's my offspring--my son's football team lost last weekend in a game that would have sent them to the championship, but we found out Sunday that he was selected to the All Star team in the league. So he's got one more game to play after all.
