Charles: "Say it. Say, "I'm gonna kill the bear." Go on, say it!"
Bob: "I'm gonna kill the bear." Charles: "Again." Bob: "I'm gonna kill the bear." Charles: "And again." Bob: "I'm gonna kill the bear!" Charles: "What one man can do, another can do." Bob: "What one man can do, another can do." Charles: "Again!" Bob: "What one man can do, another can do!" Charles: "And again!" Bob: "What one man can do, another can do!" Charles: "Yeah. You're goddamn right. Cause today...I'm gonna kill the motherfucker." Last edited by Dr_Ultimately; 11-06-2009 at 07:35 PM. |

Did you start this thread because I mentioned "The Edge" on the Yogi Bear movie thread today?

Why did you just change the quotation? It was one quote, then you edited it, and it became another..

I agree, it's one of my favorite David Mamet films
I'd just have been honored to have found out I played a small part in the inspiration for your posting, seeing as how I love the film so much

Thats awesome, my friend used to mimick that scene all the time. Its a great film with two amazing performances. I just checked out IMDB, but I didn't realize it was written by David Mamet, just makes me love him more, and directed by Lee Tamahori, man that guy has fallen far.

Being a Bart myself, I always get a kick out of Bart the Bear.

There's a line where Baldwin says, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah." I always thought that was funny.
My dad and I love camping, so any movie remotely related to the wilderness gets our attention. This one is excellent. |

The line in this film that always cracks me up is when Harold Perinuea's character is asked how sick the guy they're supposed to meet up with is, and he responds: "He'd have to get better to die."

Just watched the film again, it still holds up very well. Although, I did enjoy it a lot more on the big screen. I can't imagine anyone else in Anthony Hopkins role, he's pretty much perfect as the aloof intellectual billionaire.

I really wish they had kept the original title for the film though: Bookworm. It's ridiculous, but just so bad-ass when put over the content of the film. Much as I think this is one of those perfect movies, the title The Edge is as generically lame as it gets.

The Bookworm title would have spoiled it for me. As it is, I didn't see the Baldwin heel turn coming until Hopkins finds the receipt for Baldwin's watch.

Baldwin says "Charles" a lot in The Edge. As in, Hopkins' character's name. I mean A LOT. Listen for it next time.

Love this movie as well. I think it would have been a lot more interesting if Baldwin's character had lived and then all return to the lodge and have just an incredibly ackward moment as the three of them just stare at each other with no one saying a thing.
