I've just never heard of the recent entry. I was actually hoping for side-by-side comparison images of the kids and the actors they were chibi-doppleganging. Hehehe.

I haven't seen any of the entries, but I absolutely love the concept and write-ups. Margot Kidder and Hatebaby particularly killed me today.

After reading all the praise for Inside and despite the warnings of how intense it was, I had finally built up the courage to watch it. But goddammit, those screenshots. Down it goes on the Netflix queue.

This only just came out on DVD here in the UK and, unlike Alysson Paradis' stomach, I believe it to be uncut. I loved it. Possibly my favourite horror movie since the Descent. Nick's right to mention the sound design. There's a hilarious moment where Beatrice Dalle makes a bizarre whoooshing sound as she flits before the camera.

While I've promised myself marathons for years, I don't think I've seen beyond the first or second entry in any of the massive horror franchises (Friday, Nightmare, Hellraiser, Halloween, TCM, even shit like Saw). The completionist in me feels a large streak of shame, but the doesn't-hate-myself part of me doesn't feel any particular drive to make it happen.
I've been curious about a few odd entries in the Jason series though, and this is one of them. Perhaps I'll take a plunge when I'm free in a couple of weeks (no I won't). |

I have a question - is there a way for CHUD to get credit for whatever I buy off Amazon? Do you have to set up the link to a specific film, or is there some kind of catch-all portal or whatnot I can buy through? I have a feeling I'm about to go apeshit on some blu-rays and want to help the site if I can.

There's an amazon link on CHUD's main page, a link to Amazon from every DVD review we run, and every Movie of the Day page. If you use those links we will get credit. Use the search box on the front of the site if possible.

I always assumed the links in the DVD reviews only went to the individual film; wasn't sure how that all worked. Pennies on the dollar coming your way!

FRIDAY 13th 3 is one of my all time favorite terrible movies. There is just nothing actually good about the film. Nothing. Yet, there is something about the film I find utterly watchable. I particularly love Shelly, the fat loser who gives Jason the hockey mask. His stupid self-hating on-liners get me every time. "They all went skinny dipping. But I'm not skinny enough."
Good choice, Nick.

What a perfect analysis. There can no sane explanation for this movie. It is a MESS. You want to say that it mixes genre but no.
I like when Kevin Costner offends the kid by asking him if he's ever shot anybody with his toy six shooters... The kid has no response and Costner responds "Didn't think so" and drives off laughing.

Okay, that's uncanny. I was talking about this movie to folks at work just this afternoon. I think the conversation grew out of the old theory that tomatoes were poisonous.

A lot of my friends were politically conservative back in the day. This was definitely a fun flick to spring on 'em. I recall one ditto-head buddy being so infuriated by the whole premise, and offended at me personally for endorsing the premise (even in joke), that he stormed out.
I will say, it doesn't really rise above the one dark joke. In the hands of a more accomplished satirist, movie could have been something special. |

I love the hell out of this movie, but never much liked Garcia in the role. It's been years since I saw it, but I never could buy him in it. I like him in other things, especially Black Rain, so I have no idea why. Same went for Buscemi's small part, although that was good for a laugh at least.

Treat Williams is one of the all-time "what if" actors. He should have been the next big thing, a movie star. Alas, something bad happened--Joe Piscopo. |

You're exactly right about it being lost in the post-Pulp Fiction wannabe crop, I dismissed and avoided it for exactly that reason, it seemed like just another lame try-hard gangster flick. Nice to know I was wrong.

Despite my hatred for Garcia, I agree completely about this. And I seem to remember that it started out with pretty good hype but somehow never made it completely out of the post Pulp Fiction avalanche of shit.

I love this movie for every reason that you cited, Nick. Special mention should really be made of just HOW GOOD Treat Williams is in this film, though. Critical Bill is the kind of character that really sticks with you once the movie is done.
