However, one of the main reasons I haven't read any of his work is a) I'm incredibly picky when it comes to "comics." I've really only read most of the "big stuff" (i.e. Moore's work, some Frank Miller, Maus, Preacher, etc.) and b) I can't stand the fucking attitude/mouth on that guy.

"Artists" who run their mouth like that turn me off in the worst way.
I have a certain threshold for separating artists from their works. Millar falls under that threshold for me. If he acts like an ass in real life, I am capable of ignoring it and bringing myself to read what he cranks out. Indeed, the same argument can be made for Alan Moore's general cranky behavior. Not saying Millar is as good as Moore, but I can ignore the posturing and blowhardiness.

I posted my ten favorite movies in the thread of the same title but how about you guys shut the fuck and stop trying to derail every thread I post in with your flaccid declarations of hatred for me, you're not funny or interesting so I suggest sticking with what you know which is apparently terrible superhero movies written for 13 year olds

the comics seemed to be hastily re-written to match the way the movie was written - i may be wrong but it seemed that way.

it'll be a fun ride, hopefully they'll keep playing down the nic cage stuff so that even i forget by the time I see this in theatres.

How about you post like a decent human being with social skills rather than a raging homicidal adolescent with Asperger's? Maybe then people will wish to debate with you.

Same here. And that's why I neglected to post that initially. I haven't read Millar's work, so I don't know if it's worth separating or not. It just so happens that I heard him run his mouth before I ever checked out his work, so I'm pretty biased, for better or for worse.

As for Moore, I happen to usually agree with his cynicism, although not to the degree that he takes it. Ergo, he and I are still on good standing. Then again, his work is so amazing that I'm not sure if there's a behavior imaginable that would sway me from my love of his work.

I really enjoyed Stardust, warts and all, so I'm still very hopeful and open to Kick Ass being great. Stardust showed that Vaughn can successfully do a form of "light fun" that is in rare supply these days, and despite how shitty I think that trailer is, it looks like it could provide a nice sandbox for Vaughn to play in.

For me, the shittiness of the trailer has everything to do with how it's put together and very little to do with the content.

I think I'll let everyone else decide who exactly is being the "whiny bitch" in this thread
