Amazon UK seems to have most of them mate. This box set covers 18 of his films.

And with every one of my complaints, it comes back to me not owning a region free player. I'm a moron.

Excellent, excellent, excellent and excellent!

I've been neglecting checking on that WB Archive. This is indeed great news.

Has Stuart Rosenberg's WUSA ever been released in any sort of format? Has anybody even seen that film?

I know it's been "officially" supplanted by The Beatles Anthology, but I really wish The Compleat Beatles was available on DVD. I'd rather watch a two-hour history of the group than slog through all five discs of anthology.

Not a movie, but I've been waiting for MTV's THE MAXX series to be put on DVD. Sadly, it'll likely never happen.

A legit release of Darker Than Amber has to be on the horizon in light of DiCaprio doing a Travis McGee movie.

I think I posted that early on in this thread. I still want it. It come out on VHS, so I'm still waiting.

It always bummed me out that the MAXX got the shaft when some other MTV cartoons went on to enjoy a bit more popularity. (like The HEAD, or whatever it was, with the dude with the... big head.)

Up the Creek, 1984 - Almost a sort of sister movie to Animal House. Like if the guys from Delta House went on a rafting trip after they destroyed Faber.

Doc Savage: Man of Bronze, 1975 - With the recent announcement of Shane Black writing a new movie, I'd love to see this one again. I worshiped it when I was a kid.

Pretty sure that's available through the WB Archive.

Here’s my “need on proper R1 DVD now goddammit!” list. Granted I’ve seen pretty much all of these either on VHS or cable way back when, but they’re all must-owns regardless.

Movies:

The Challenge (aka Sword of the Ninja)
Crimewave
Bloodrage (aka Never Pick up a Stranger)
Caro Diario (Dear Diary)
Enter the Ninja (uncut)
Nightmare (aka Nightmare in a Damaged Brain aka Blood Splash)
House (Hausu)
Day of the Beast
Ms. 45 (uncut)
Death Wish II (uncut)
Crying Freeman (uncut)
Out on a Limb (1992)
Run and Kill (uncut)
Doctor Lamb (uncut)
Drunken Wu Tang
Ninja in the Dragon’s Den
Secret Rivals 1 and 2 (subtitled and in at least reasonably non-shitty quality)
Shaolin vs Ninja (ditto as above)
Project A 1 and 2 subtitled and uncut (screw you Miramax)
The Seventh Curse (I know those Fortune Star DVDs are region free and okay enough, but this movie really deserves the royal treatment)
The Big Heat (ditto as above)
Broken Oath (ditto again)
Deadly China Doll
The Association
Hapkido

Shaw Brothers:

Masked Avengers
Eight Diagram Pole Fighter
Executioners from Shaolin
Fist of the White Lotus
Monkey Goes West
Golden Swallow
Chinese Boxer
Kid with the Golden Arm
Iron Fingers of Death (aka Shaolin Prince)
Vengeance!

Anime:

Robot Carnival
The Venus Wars (non-shitty transfer)
Angel’s Egg
Only Yesterday
Ocean Waves
The Cockpit
Macross: Do You Remember Love?
Windaria (subtitled and uncut)
Mermaid's Scar OAV
Violence Jack (uncut)
Devilman OAVs (subtitled)
Mad Bull 34 (duel language)
Goku: Midnight Eye

Yeah, I like my trashy OAVs along with my high class stuff when it comes to anime. What of it?

TV:

The Maxx
Brad Dharma: Psychedelic Detective
The Head

I probably have a ton more (especially in the Hong Kong and anime department), but those are all that’s coming to me right now.

Unfortunately it's only the "unofficial" ones.

I have an old VHS laserdisc dub of the Japanese G vs. Biollante but there are no subtitles. I also have a VHS retail of G 1985 (complete with Bambi vs. Godzilla short in the beginning). I've seen parts of the Japanese original/G '1984 and am planning on getting a subtitled DVD copy.

What I really want is a port of the Toho laserdiscs for these films. G vs. Biollante has tons of extras like audio commentary, behind the scenes footage, and an interview with orginal Gojira director Inoshiro Honda as he visits the G v B set. The links I gave you sell one, so I'll probably end up ordering from there. G '84/Returns has a ton of extra stuff too but I haven't found a DVD copy with that stuff on it.

I really don't know what's up with Sony/Toho Region One Godzilla DVD's. They did a great job releasing most of the classic G films on DVD uncut with English subtitles. And I was glad to get most of the Hiesei series that way.

The exception was Destroy All Monsters, published by some obscure company. When I got the DVD I was ready to trash my old taped-from-TV VHS copy. Glad I didn't because the dubbing on the DVD was totally different (and inferior)! Not only that, there were no chapter stops.

But the good news, DARKMITE8, is that this month Toho's releasing the G films on Bluray!:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/search3.htm...20&order=score

They're region free and have some great extras but no English subtitles. But neither did the Jap releases of the early DVD'. They added that feature when they published them over here, so I wouldn't worry.

How about your copies of G '84 and Biollante? How's the qaulity? Any extras?

Jaquio, Are you a fan of...Fist Of The North Star? Discotek is releasing all 150 episodes...in 2010. It is the original series 1984-87. There is even going to be a new Dynasty Warriors game on the ps3/360 featuring Kenshiro and the rest of the FOTNS characters. It will carry an M rating, and the trailer for this game is on youtube.

Yes I am a huge Fist fan, and yes I'm already well aware of the upcoming Discotek release (and the video game too), which is why I didn't include it in the list. Same reason why I didn't put Five Element Ninjas (aka Chinese Super Ninjas) on the Shaw Bros. list, since there's a tentative R1 release date for it (that's already been pushed back once, which I hope doesn't bode too ill for it).

Also I forgot to put Abel Ferrara's The Addiction on there, but I'm not entirely sure about that one: I saw it only once back when it first came out, and my memory of it is vague at best. I remember liking it a lot then, but I dunno how well it'll hold up.
