I think the joke (as well as the plot) works either way, but I tend to agree with Schwartz.

I think Charlie is just oblivious to the molestation undertones. It does work either way though.

Oh, I didn't mean that it wouldn't work without it, just that it seems to make sense, and well, it seems like something they would do.

I tried the first episode. Thought it was ok to a little above average, but with the amount of movies and TV series I was sitting on, it didn't grab me enough to try any more of it.

I'm thinking about giving it another shot, though. Any thoughts on how many episodes I should watch to give it a fair shake? I know some shows take a little while to really find their footing. Or maybe there is a particularly great episode in season 1 that I should at least try to make it to before making a final call?

Season 1 is short enough that you should be able to plow through it and get a good feel for it.

Yup. If you're not sold by the time the first three have rolled around, I dunno what to say.

Fair enough!

And to be completely honest, at another time in my life, I probably would have already watched much more of it, but my free time is scarce (and I'm still catching up on things like 30 Rock and Heroes*), so if something doesn't grab me right away, I have to make a major effort to come back to it. With all of the love this seems to get, I'm willing to make that effort, though.

*Just kidding about Heroes.

Season 1 is good, but Season 2 is greatness. They really hit their stride then. It only goes uphill from there.

Having just rewatched it, the molestation joke goes back to Season 1's "Charlie Got Molested" (it turns out he wasn't).
