There was absolutely nothing of interest in that trailer. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it just was.
I look forward to the scathing reviews.

Do you think it's possible Zombie is going to pull the old "it's all in her head/she's actually killing people"? Granted the trailer doesn't have anything to suggest that, but Zombie is on record as saying there is no supernatural element to how Myers survived (unlikely or it ignores the original ala Evil Dead 2), plus he said he's more interested in exploring how Laurie goes mental after the first attack.
Although I was upset with the first remake (even though I had a soft spot for the workprint) this looks so far removed from the original series that I might be able to enjoy it on its own terms. I just don't even know why they bothered calling in Halloween, I guess in a twisted way it's funny that Zombie is destroying the franchise. It's not like any of the sequels were any good after Season of the Witch (that's right, I love the third one! If only it worked out we could've had a cool Halloween anthology series of films, bah! Plus it's the best score Carpenter did.), there is no way I could be hurt after the Busta Rythmes fiasco. |

It sure wouldn't be the NEW "it's all in her head/she's actually killing people" trick. But hey, how many Rob Zombie fans saw High Tension, anyway?

From the sound of it, Zombie barely had any script and just shot a whole lotta shit with the plans to make a film in the editing bay. Who knows what the actual story will be? I bet Zombie doesn't even know yet.
I am quivering with anticipation for this. It's going to take all of my willpower to not run out and see the earliest show I can. |

Morbid curiosity + Arclight membership points might get me in the theater to see what appears to be Rob Zombie's scorched-earth career trajectory.

That shot of the kid in the pumpkinmask with a chalice at some bizarre Alice in Wonderland style dinner party has made this a day one viewing and I haven't even seen Zombie's first attempt. It's also always fun to see McDowell try and counter his disinterest in a role by speaking with lots of intonation. His entire role in Tank Girl consists of him looking bored and enunciating like a motherfucker.

I really wish he would get off Hooper's jock and make his own damn movie.

I can't believe McDowell actually has to spill that, "Michael Myers is dead! D-E-A-D!" line. Yikes.
There was a script, apparently a pretty decent one before filming began. At least it was good in the sense that the guy said it was the best Halloween script. But at the time, the Weinsteins were getting involved and he didn't know how much of that draft would survive. Zombie wrote something of a dark, moody flick, but the execs wanted more "Zombie-isms." Or so I heard. This was about a week before Zombie's name hit the trades saying he was coming back. |

That pumpkin kid was pretty much the only interesting thing in this trailer, and that's only because it reminded me of Halloween 3.

Wow that trailer is long and tough to sit through.
Cannot imagine what it would be like to sit through that film in the theater. I was getting twitchy ninety seconds into the trailer, waiting for it to come to a completely uninteresting stop. |

Let's be positive about this! I mean... uh... Danielle Harris is in the movie!

Maybe I misremember, but wasn't she killed in the first movie?

She was stabbed repeatedly but survived.

Did Michael actually roar at someone or was it just a sound effect? because if he did, I'm gonna watch it twice.
Actually, I won't because this trailer made me check my watch. A two and a half minute trailer made me check my watch. Really impressive, Rob. |

I think the trailer is pretty good, actually. But Zombie certainly deserves all this negativity after the last effort.

After the remake and the trailer for Werewolf Women of the SS, I really think that the Devil's Rejects was a complete fluke. I don't have hope for this, but then I found a perverse brilliance to the original drafts commissioned turning into a remake of the original Halloween II. The original sequel is going to be showing at the New Beverly in a brand new print Universal struck, just for the event.

Hahahaha his feet sticking out of the tumbling car!
I hope that's accompanied by 3 Stooges falling-down-the-stairs sound effects.

And Laurie shot him in the face and didn't kill him. Being useless must run in the family.
