The cool thing about reading the Kill Bill script was Warren Beatty was still set to play Bill at the time. So I loved imagining him reading all the lines. And then when I saw the movie, almost everything had been changed for Carradine. A lot of the dialogue was still there, but it had a sense of freshness about it because while reading the movie I imagined a totally different kind of performance because I was imagining a totally different actor! And, there were whole scenes cut out from the thing (the infamous "Can She Bake a Cherry Pie" bit, where Bill is introduced in an an underground casino, complains about buying overpriced beer in a paper cup and then kills everybody).
From a few discussion I had with people who had read the script I got the impression that Tarantino removed a lot of scenes of Bill fighting. There was a really cool scene involving Bill having a kung fu duel with someone at some point. Which I could never get my head around until I saw the second part and realised what he and Carradine were shooting for with Bill. I love how Part 2 completely changed the context of some of Bill's lines in vol.1 in particular the 'this is me at my most masochistic' bit.

Back on topic: Still no black and white shots in any of these trailers, I'm getting the feeling that a lot of the audience are going to be kind of pissed off when they realise what the film is REALLY like.

Spike, I don't recall any instance in the Kill Bill movies where he uses the 'vertigo' effect. But it's been so long since I've seen those movies.

I think any old zooms he uses are of the Hong Kong martial arts films. Smash zooms, slow deliberate zooms, and the like. I remember cracking up SO hard when he used them as Pai Mei talked.

I am so excited for this movie. I'm so intrigued about the idea of a talky Tarentino period piece where he can't fall back on pop culture references. Add to that, that Pitt looks to be having a blast and my unapologetic love of Schwieger and you have one ticket bought.

Isn't the Zoom up to Lucy Liu a vertigo zoom? It's probably not, I'm just parroting some shit I heard in an 'all access exclusive behind the scenes documentary' I watched where Tarantino was talking about expanding his repitore of skills.

Yeah, the slow zoom is such a Quentin staple that on the Sin City extended DVD he seems to think he originated it or something.

It's one of the main reasons I love that the movie got split in 2.

If the early reports out of Cannes are true, that it's more 'talkative' than his last few movies, then I'm not going anywhere near it.

Quentin + dialogue = waste of my time, money, and sanity.
Wow. I have always thought that his dialogue is very entertaining.

If you take out the dialogue from a QT movie, what are you left with?

And why does my Amercian english dictionary tell me that dialogue should be spelled dialog? Is that right?

I believe you may be right, sir. I really like the Western-sounding bit of music later on at around the 1:40 mark. Anyone recognize that?

Great, fun trailer. I'm quite excited about it now.

The bad news is you won't get this (US only) trailer.

The good news is you'll get a MUCH better one.

Fuck outta here with that shit. I appreciate dialogue, sure. It would make no sense not to.

I just don't like pretentious overly-wordy wank-fests that completely fly over your head (and let you know that it did) if you didn't see that one particular low-budget Italian horror movie from the 1960's.

Pulp Fiction is still grating at times (gasp!) but I still love it, a big reason for that being the actors involved. With the exception of Kill Bill 1 (as has been pointed out, succeeds primarily because of the quick pacing and his direction, which I will never complain about), but everything after that....Kill Bill 2....DEATH PROOF...my god. Death Proof.

And Cannes critics are saying that it's even 'talkier' than THOSE? Blech. No thanks. Not for me.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but you're all wrong. You guys loved the shit out of Juno, huh? Thundercats gooooooo! I hope Diablo Cody gets hit by cars and trucks.

Every time I think I can't be more excited for this film, a new trailer comes out and proves me wrong. Holy shit, that was glorious (pun intended), and I don't care if I don't see any other films this year, so long as I don't miss out on this one. But then, I'm one of those people who likes Death Proof, so I'm probably not the most impartial judge when it comes to Tarantino films.

This scene shouldn't have been cut from Kill Bill V.2:

I remember reading that Tarantino took out that scene from Vol. 2 because it didn't fit in with the tone. It would have been cool to see, but I can understand why he took it out.

I just finished up Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, and it made me think that an Inglorious Basterds game would be friggin' awesome.

Yeah that scene doesn't work at all with Volume 2, and I've always liked that we only know Bill by reputation. There's an inference of skill and power in the movies that works far better than seeing him kill people.

Have any of you guys actually seen the original Inglorious Bastards? Well worth catching if you're up for an Italian homage to the Dirty Dozen. Although there appears to be very few similarities between it and QTs film.

I picked up the 3 disc set when it came out last summer after having never seen it. The original was pretty good. Svenson and Williamson are great. I like the running theme of Williamson being the only one not dressed up in Nazi attire for obvious reasons. Also when he gets happy and wants to join in with the girls in the lake and they freak out and start shooting at him.

Gotta love the main theme.

After being really bummed we didn't see the scene in the movie, I found myself really let down by it when I finally saw it as a deleted scene on the DVD. It just felt really flat. I was glad it was taken out.

I think Spike's take on why Bill's mystique works much better without it is very much correct.

Dialog usually shows up as a variant form (like with prologue/prolog, epilogue/epilog, etc), but dialogue is definitely the more common form.

I was watching the Spike Guys Choice Awards where they showed this. The first 40 minutes or so had some blatant shilling for Inglorious Basterds.

Also surprised at Mel Gibson showing up to riff on his Braveheart speech to open the show. But better than that was when Pitt came up on stage and said to him, "Thanks, sugartits".

Thanks for the heads up! Consider me intrigued.

I have seen the Teaser Trailer in front of Drag me to Hell recently though and it got a lot of WTF? from the audience. And Hitlers "nein, nein, nein!" got a rather silent reaction.
But I couldnīt care less as long as this turns out like I am hoping to.
