Watson Out As Hermione In "Potter"?
By Garth Franklin
Sunday March 18th 2007 6:25am
Emma Watson, better known as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, has decided not to sign up for the final two movies reports Digital Spy.
The News of the World says that Watson has told producers that she wants to try other roles and turned down a new Ł2 million-per-movie offer.
A British tabloid report that can be dismissed right? Well not so easily. The paper claims that it has received confirmation from Warner Brothers that Emma has not signed up for the final films.
On top of that they have a quote from actor Rupert Grint about the trio's dynamic - "She's tired of being known as 'that girl from Harry Potter'. Daniel and I are distant from her now. We don't text or talk to her when we are not filming".

If that's the case, I'm going to have to eat my words. I simply figured she was full of shit and just holding out for more $$$.

One, you're gonna get reamed for not submitting this as news, which, even so, two, it's a British Tabloid, so it's got to be taken with about 10 grams of salt, and because it's news from a rag, three, this couldn't have gone in a different forum?

can't say I trust News of the World. English tabloids aren't that reliable.

Both of you are correct, my friends. But that's why I said "if that's the case..."

Maybe she just wanted to get back at Devin.
I wouldnt even use News of the World as toilet paper. I actually applied for a job at Digital Spy earlier this year. Wankers didnt get back to me.

There has literally been one of these stories every week for the past two month. People need to chill out.
True enough, but with it confirmed that she's now the only one of the trio yet to sign for the final two movies they're extra-worrying.
Honestly, I think she'd be crazy to jump ship at this stage. She's already done five of the movies, so to a lot of people she's going to be Hermione for the rest of her career whether or not she does PRINCE and HALLOWS. The typecasting, if it exists, is already in place. Better to round out the series, cement her place in Potter lore and move on afterwards. It's not like she hasn't got a whole career ahead of her.

I read this today on the Leaky Cauldron:
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#article:9627
There have been a spate of claims over the past few months stating that actress Emma Watson may or may not return in her role as Hermione Granger in the last two Harry Potter films, and this reached a fevered pitch over the weekend with several tabloid reports stating that she was definitely quitting. Here is a bit of news that will perhaps ease the fears of the scores of you who emailed: CBBC Newsround is now reporting today quotage from official sources that are laying to rest all these rumors, as WB said "We're extremely confident that Emma will be back for films six and seven." The report continues with this : "Emma, who plays Hermione in the films, is set to sign her new contract soon."
Just to put further fears to rest: We at Leaky have had the same information confirmed through our own sources.
Phew! More when we get it.
