So, what should we put on the list?

Revenge of the Sith is probably too close, but how about Spielberg's War of the Worlds?

Good call. I'd be up for that (or down with that, depending on how hip you want to sound).
Hitchhikers would've been a good one as well, but the first three months of this year seem to have taken about ten minutes to speed past.

I'm good for any choice really. We just need to agree on a location.
BTW, is anyone planning to go to Fright Fest this year?

Is the atmosphere in FrightFest different enough to make sitting through some sucky horror films worth it?
It seems to get good things said about it, but is the thrill the atmosphere of the event or just seeing Seed Of Chucky early?
Tickets are expensive too.
Anyway, We don't get Sin City til June - maybe that's a good film to gather around?

Sin City or WOTW would be cool.
On an aside, how is everyone? It seems ages since we've done one of these threads.

Hey I know I am still an annoying noob (now I got to punish myself).. but I would like to get togther with some of my fellow limey chewers to see a movie...
Anyone got details or is is a secret society type thing that requires elaborate hand shakes and ornate rings...

I'd agree with you, but OliveMarie suddenly seems like an awfully long time ago now.

Sin City - in June?!?!?! Cuntflaps! Why do we get Beauty Shop this month, but have to wait an additional two months for the true depravation to begin?!?!
Oh, Raiftal - if you feel like a noob in this regional board then I feel like the 'that guy' who accidentally stumbled in and spent the rest of the night standing at the bar leering at everyone... which pretty much sums up most of my nights out drinking.

I went to Frightfest to see Happiness of the Katakuris and Ichi the Killer (whenever that was, I cant even remember, 2 years ago maybe?), and had generally a good time. It was my first time, the atmosphere was full of geeky film fans, the staff were nice and at one point threw out free condoms for some random reason too. So I would say the atmosphere of the event was a big factor in my enjoyment, and also the fact that I watched two Miike films on the big screen was cinematic bliss.

i haven't been able to sit through a miike film all in one go. they're great, yes, but the rather haphazard approach to narrative lends itself to me making a cup of tea halfway through. maybe on the big screen they'll work better. anyway, i'll leave off until i see their line up. any guesses?
also: it's expensive, especially as these films will make their way to cinemas where i have a 'free' pass (god bless you UGC!).
anyway, as for how i am doing generally, i'm doing fine. i made a short, zero-budget film in a friend's living room about a killer sock last year but the editor and owner of the footage completely let me down when actually trying to finish it. however, apparently, he has edited it now, so i'll get to see just how badly it turned out. that's exciting.
and my band has gigs on 23rd April (The Lion, Stoke Newington Church Street) and May 9th (22 Inverness street, Camden) that will be very cool. www.76music.com is the website that i'm going to get around to updating tonight.
anyone else?

Given the number of interested people, it's probably a good idea to settle the venue first.

London!
Though the geographical mid-point would most likely be somewhere awful. you know, like the midlands.
I mean i apologise to any midlanders reading, of course. Move.

Bah!!!
All these things happen down in London... I am a YORKSHIREMAN....Yorkshire is my base of power and I hate having to leave.... still train tickets aren't that expensive....
I envy whoever managed to see Ichi the Killer on the big screen.... that film is a headfuck on my crappy 17" so on the big screen it must be intense...

There was a strange middle aged man who sat on my right, he ate throughout the entire film, he stunk of twiglets, and I'm sure if he was alone he would have wanked off too.
As for the film, it was great on the big screen, lots of great moments for the audience to laugh and wince at, but Happiness of the Katakuris got the biggest laughs naturally, most especially the sumo screwing the school girl and the character who pretended to be a relative of the Royal Family.
Best Asian double bill I ever saw though, was in a Greenwich cinema: Audition followed by Battle Royale. Needless to say, I was blown away.

Well I'm in St. Helens, and last time I heard Dan was in Macclesfield.
I don't mind going to London on the train, or driving and picking a few people up along the way.
Meeting in the Midlands would be pointless since it's putting just about everyone out.

To be honest, it's just an excuse to drink an oil tanker's hold of beer and hang about with horror geeks.
I'm definitely booking tickets for this year.

Oooh! Horror Geeks! Will there be goth chicks? Goth chicks are cool.
I'm really going to have to wait to see what films they announce, though by then it might be sold out. the website says most people just hang around on the pavement outside the cinema. that sounds cool and, above all, free.

I didn't go last year, but I was there the year before. There wasn't an overwhelming number of Goths about.

Don't worry about the features. Most people are too drunk/doped to care. It's just a big laff.

Heh...Frightfest certainly looks interesting if a little up its own arse...
It falls over my Birthday so that is a bonus and if last years films are anything to go by there should be some interesting stuff...
Does anybody know how much the tickets are gonna set a guy back...
Also if there any northerners here anyone up for some anime and asian films in October over in Leeds?

That sounds like a plan. If we share petrol costs, it'd be way cheaper than all us Northerners buying train tickets.

I don't mind playing taxi driver for a same day, or a get-very-dunk-and-then-crash-somewhere-cheap-or-even-better-FREE journey.
