Okay, now that SC3 has been announced for 4th quarter '05, who would you like to see exclusive to each system?
Xbox - Master Chief w/ energy sword (I'll wager this as a given)
GC - Marth or Roy from Fire Emblem
PS2 - someone from Rise of the Kasai
no more lame McFarlane characters though...

Xbox- Bill Fucking Gates in the ultimate movie he crashes the system if he is about to lose. Weapon – fat stacks of cash.
GC- some little kid, any random 10-12 year old (it would show their loyalty to their target demographic) –weapon Deck of cards (you know Pokemon or Yu gi oh)
PS2 – Solid Snake only when you play as him all of the game is in “in game cinema” and you can’t control him. Weapon – a cigarette
XBox - I'd also say that Master Chief is a given.
Cube - Samus Aran
PS2 - Umm... that guy from Devil May Cry?

I doubt Namco would put in a character from one of their competitor's biggest games...

Tera Patrick is a character on Backyard Wrestling 2...

That was great. I laughed - mission accomplished.(I'll explain what I said here so I don't paint in to broad of stroke)

For some reason the thought of Master Chief doing kung fu makes my stomach ache.

Me too... If it happens, I'll have to think of him as some random Spartan from multiplayer Halo, the one I usually get to play who gets smacked around and humiliated like a little rag doll. That guy. Not Master Chief.
I'd like to see Zelda herself on the GC Soul Calibur. There would be some interesting gameplay there. Or maybe even Ganon. Not the goofy looking humanoid Ganondorf, but the full-fledged Demonic Pig-Faced Asshole that we all know and love. Samus would be a little too sci-fi for the setting I think. Come to think of it, I can't see Master Chief fitting in to the Soul Calibur world either.

That would be Dante, and yes he would totally rule.
I'm really wondering how they could release an XBox version and not have Master Chief in it. Though if it does contain Space Pope or even better Space Butler I'd be joygasmic.

I'm really wondering how they could release a PS2 or GC version with any non-first party character in it.
Anyway, they should have two characters in each version.
GC - Link and Ganondorf
Xbox - Master Chief and the Arbiter
PS2 - You got me, they don't have any suitable first party characters.

Easy enough: there's a Tactical-RPG coming soon called NamcoxCapcom that is, as you may guess, a crossover game featuring character from both companies. So it's not much of a stretch to imagine that Dante or a character from Onimusha could be included in Soul Calibur 3 (besides, there was a rumor floating around that Capcom had used the SC2 engine for a boss fight in Devil May Cry 3).

PS2 Exclusive? Boooooooo
Namco unveiled details on Soul Calibur III today and confirmed the game's release this year in the US. The title is the third entry in the Soul Calibur series, Namco's impressive weapon-based fighting franchise that began on the original PlayStation. According to currently available information, it appears that, unlike its predecessor Soul Calibur II, the game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2 when it ships sometime this year.

Wasn't the PS2 version of Soul Calibur 2 the lowest selling of the three?

It could turn out to be one of the timed exclusitivity deals, whereas it comes later for Xbox and GC owners.
Regardless, the video (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=5290&type=mov) released today didn't really glean much in terms of how different it would play from SCII aside from the new character creation system.

That's really strange considering Namco is awfully tight with Nintendo these days.

No. Last numbers I saw (end of 2003) had the GC version ahead by something like 50,000 units. Don't have up-to-date numbers, but I seriously doubt that the GC SC2 still has better sales than the PS2 SC2 simply because of userbase.
Besides, the only reason it had more was because of Link and PS2 SC2 had a crap exclusive character.

I'm fairly certain that SCII on Gamecube was/still is the best selling of the three versions. And yes, it was all due to Link.
Still, this is a shame about the PS2 deal.
