Alright so I was going to drop this in the Mortal Kombat: Deception thread, but thought it might as well get a thread on its own? Has anyone played the demo for it yet? i saw a couple trailers and screens, but thats about it.

so yeah...any early thoughts?

This game does have its own thread, but it's months old now and likely buried way back.

But, yeah... I can't wait for this one. Been anticipating it for quiet a while. The style of gameplay (and, especially, the subject matter) couldn't be more up my alley.

Subject matter is def up my alley as well....thats why it caught my eye from the get go. Have you played the demo yet, Carl? I really like the whole idea of acquiring new abilities as you get "more infected" throughout the game. A neat little idea.

The demo was fantastic. Not sure if that sort of intensity can be maintained for 10+ hours, but I'm definitely curious.

Yeah, I played an early PS2 build at E3 last year as well as the Xbox demo that came on one of the recent Xbox Magazine discs. Even then, it was pretty tight. Kinda Halo meets Rainbow Six. But from what I hear they have polished it even further.

Wow....Halo meets Rainbow Six...that sounds pretty much like the best thing I could ask for...to be completely honest. Throw in a nice little alien/conspiracy plotline...im ALL set. how long does the demo go for? one level i presume?

ok....just as an update (bc i know you were all waiting to hear)....i played the demo for Area 51 over the weekend. i also agree that it was just fantastic. the weapon choices, game detail, flow, and even controls were great. when i first startd playing i saw that the head movements were inverted, but was surprised at how easy it was to toggle them off. so all in all....i enjoyed it a whole lot!

I played the demo that was in OPM last month and loved the game. I'm looking forward to playing multi-player on-line. I read that when you play multi-player, the boards shrink and grow as people leave and enter the game. I sure hope this is true, I can't think of any other games that do this, but it sounds sweet.

Just a quick update for ya'll from your resident Area 51 junky....gamespot (or at least thats where I found it) released a new video featuring the voice actors which is actually pretty cool. i recommend you take a look if you have the time...always fun to see a behind the scenes kind of thing like that.

Thanks, that was a cool vid. I think it's pretty awesome they got Marilyn Manson and David Duchovny to do the voices. I could definitely recognize Duchovny's voice immediately during the intro on the demo.
