Is anyone else surprised that there is nothing presented yet for this movie aside from a very tight shot of the creatures face and a teaser poster? With reports stating the film has been completed months and months ago, you'd think they'd just put it out already. Or a teaser trailer even.

I just finished collecting the 22 issue run of the Man-Thing comic from the mid 70's,some of the early issues have some nice Mike Ploog artwork with some realy nice bronze age covers and it's not a bad read.

It took me a while to collect because (according to the guy at the comic shop) the production crew for the Man-Thing film came in and bought most of the issues when they were filming down here.

The film onlyhad a $30 million budget so I wouldn't expect to much eye candy from it but I'll see it any way to see how close they stick to the comic, Man-Thing isin't the most charasmatic of Marvel characters ,he has no personality,no emotions and no will of his own and he dosen't speak he only reacts to the emotions of other people .

Well I came across a prequel comic written by Hans Rodinoff that is supposed to set up the story in the movie, its pretty good so far. With the coming of these books perhaps some more light will be shed on this upcoming flick.

Rodinoff seems like a decent writer. I dug his Lovecraft screenplay-turned-comic that came out earlier this year. Some clever writing in that one and a pleasure to read for anyone who knows and likes Lovecraft. I guess there's also a reason why Clive Barker chose him to pen that first draft of the TORTURED SOULS script. So I'm actually pretty sure his MAN THING script was at least OK. The big question mark here is Brett Leonard, director of such already horribly dated 90ies sci-fi flicks like LAWNMOWER MAN (the worst Stephen Kind adaption ever) and VIRTUOSITY. $30 million is not a bud budget to work with so maybe he did some good stuff with it but it doesn't bode well that LGF pushed the film back to October 2005.

This is one of the things that concerns me about this film. (Actually about comic book films in general...) The Marvel Universe has stories that intertwine. Liberties taken with origins lead to further mistakes.
