From Screamscape-
As Halloween draws closer more details are leaking out about this year’s HHN. First off, while the event will take place in both parks, only the Islands of Adventure gate will be used at this time. I’m not sure how much of IOA will be used but Marvel, Suess and Lost Continent are confirmed so far while USF will fill up the left side of the park and run at least down to the Earthquake area. Sorry no Jaws or MIB... yet. I’ve also heard that the icon for this year’s event will be a psycho ward doctor by the name of Dr. Payne. (I’m envisioning the tag line already... “The Doctor is IN!) Certainly the promo artwork confirms that a Psycho Ward story is the theme for the year. Anyway... there is also a rumored back story that may link this fellow to our host from 2002... The Caretaker. It’s seems Dr. Payne needed someone to dispose of his patients.
Enough of that though... lets get on to the rumored themed in progress for the seven mazes in the parks and their likely locations. Dr. Payne’s maze may be placed in Marvel Island in the backstage building used for Maximum Carnage in ‘02 and will be themed as a psycho ward. A Wax Museum themed maze is slated for Soundstage 20A, where famous horror icons come to life at night. Soundstage 20B may be something called Hellgate. A western Ghost Town themed maze is rumored to take up residents in the large Soundstage 22. Soundstage 23 is said to contain a Vampire themed house that may either have it’s own story, be themed to Van Helsing, or something more similar to Blade 3. An official Dawn of the Dead themed maze full of zombies will likely be placed at Earthquake’s queue area. Last up is something being called Nightmare that sounds like it may be in the old Herc/Xena building.

"Dawn of the Dead"...that will make a lot of you happy. :D

Me, I am really pushing for the "Van Helsing" theme in the Vamp maze. Who doesn't want to get grossed out by the slimy Vamp pods? I'm hoping there's going to be some Drac & Velkan Scare-acters walking around. :D

Anyway, I'll keep ya all posted.

Well, its a shame the Universal park in Spain has nothing to do with the movies... :(

I do know that EuroDisney does a Halloween event...

And I do know about "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween" at WDW...

I never heard about a Haunted Mansion event....could you please fill me in?

I was there (not at the Halloween event) during the summer about two years. Fast-forward, before Van Helsing comes out, and one of my college business classes gets a visit from the Brand Manager of Universal. She brought up some promo items (inlcuding a cool "The Director" poster). So after class I talk to her and ask her why they didn't have anything showcasing Unviversal's rich heritage of monster movies (they had nothing whatsoever other than a Monster Cafe complete with Wolfman, Frank's Monster, and the Creature I believe, rotating at the top of the cafe's roof). So her response, complete with snooty voice, was "Well we're not a mOOONNster Attraction".

Fast-forward another year or so with a couple months prior to the release of Van Helsing, and I'd be damned, if right there in my Entertainment Weekly mag is an article with the VP of marketing going on about how they have such a rich library of horror characters and they're so excited blah, blah, blah.

Makes me ashamed that I'm going into marketing. This dumb broad wouldn't know a decent movie, let alone a decent horror movie, if it slapped itself onto her face and impregnated her.

Darn, I'm going to be there in the beginning of the month....

BUT, like I've been saying, some of us like our monsters to look/act like they stepped out of a shôjo manga...And a lot of times, studios make really dumb decisions. Remember that ban I had on Miramax?

We southern California types continue to be ignored by the studio that got it's start here and now refuses to continue the event that also got it's start here.

GRRR.

BIG GRRRR!

We used to get Rob Zombie, Clive Barker, and Buffy...now we get bubkus.
