Played the (too damn short) demo on the new OXM disk. Very pretty, lots of rpg elements, looks like it may be fairly deep. Was not impressed with the TWO 'block moving' puzzles in the demo. I like the combination of time slowing down when you're choosing spells and special attacks (as opposed to simply pausing completely in a turn-based game).

With cities thrown in, buying and selling at vendors, and all the usual rpg trappings, this one might not be too bad. Anyone else played the demo or looking forward to this one?

Is this on the June or July OXM demo disk? I don't remember seeing it, and I love me some rpgs.

I just got it in my mail today, the August issue. It's the only demo worth playing on the disk (to me, anyways).

Ahhh. Then I should have something to look forward to when I get home.

Damn, OXM ships early. I just got my June and July issues (on the same day) of GameInformer last week.

This is the point on the old boards that I would stick my tongue at you.

Cool. I hope my OXM shows up soon. I've been really curious about Sudeki for a really long time. It's looking kind of promising. I guess we'll all know for sure soon.

This comes out soon. Who's getting it? I'll probably wait until I've read some reviews of it, and if it looks promising, I'd really like to pick this one up. I need a good RPG to play.

Gamestop shows release date of July 20th. I was about to get excited if it was going to be released this week.

Crap... well that's some bad news... well on the other hand I didn't have the money to buy it anyway... but on the other hand it looked good enough and it was going to sustain me until Fable... ah crap!

Well I don't know about you folks, but the official release date for EBCanada is the 15th, so Thursday, but I still have no money... and Slater thinks it's dog shit, not a good omen.

Slater's post has certainly deterred me from picking this one up. Maybe I'll give it a rent or something. Thanks for the warning, Slater.

Could anyone that has the demo tell me whats all on it? Demos, downloads, etc. I just rented Red Dead Revolver (underrated) and I heard there's a save file you can download on there.

The Red Dead Revolver download gives you Infinite Health & Deadeye, max cash, extra characters, journal pages, and some multiplayer stuff.

The videos for Doom 3 & Conkers are pretty badass too. Never touched the Sudeki demo yet.

On another note - anyone else see Forrest Whitaker on the cover of the OXM mag and not Odd Job? Certainly throwing hats around is not the way of the Samurai...

So did anyone try out the full version yet?

I may give it a rental this weekend. I didn't hate the demo as much as Slater, even though it does strain my anime/cutesy guns-in-a-supposed-fantasy-game meter...

Then again, I wanna play NFL2K5 as soon as I get my hands on it tonight.

I got a five day rental on this title, and managed to beat it with a day to spare. Unfortunately, there's an awfully abrupt ending, one that is about as satisfying as stopping a mediocre film 2/3rds of the way through. There's no ambiguity or loose ends tied up. There's just....nothing. I want to hope that this was the programmers looking at the missing third act and saying to themselves "Christ, we're already behind schedule already! This will take another 10 months!"

It's a shame, too, as there was something to be said about the non-turn based fight system, which made for some hairy River City Ransom style scraps. This could have been a kick ass co-op game had the programmers had another, say, 12 months or however long it takes these days to hone in.
There's also the map design to roll your eyes at, because of the designated zones baddies pop up in. There's no surprise when walking around a countryfield when you have to pass through what looks like a guard rail gate to get to the next field. Gosh, what could be around the bend?

Oh, I know it's a fantasy game so this comes with the territory, but I would have liked to have seen female characters that looked a little more realistic, instead of having a princess dressing like she's late for her shift at pole six.

To reiterate:
Botch. Waste of time and effort. Rental at best.

Slater's review pretty much nails this game, it's about as simple an RPG as you can get but the combat and visuals are well worth a rental, I'm having a good time with it. It's to bad there is almost no reason to ever do anything but the two six hit combos with the brawler characters.

The more I think about it, the more I can't understand why the developers didn't include any sort of combo ability for Ailish and Elco. It would have been so easy to implement and it would have changed the combat dynamic so much....what a waste.

I still want a sequel, though.

Came to a whopper of a puzzle last night. So I'm in this industrial lookin' area and come to a dead end, obviously I'm about to give up. That's when I notice this bright glittering cloud right next to me, and just on a whim, decide to use my character who can see through bright glittering clouds, and what do I find you ask?! Why, it's a button that raises a bridge, that will help me get across! Wait though, that's only half a bridge, fuck stuck again, that is until I spot something else! An area of wall that is different than every other area of wall! This time I decide I'll try my "chick that can climb walls that are different than other walls", and that's when I find the second button! Bridge completed, RPG God status secured!
