Does anybody know what the status is on releasing "The Keep" on DVD? I think I remember reading awhile back somewere that it was going to be released, but have not heard anything else about it.

Good way to get off on the right foot around these parts. I'm a huge fan of The Keep.
Even though I could've sworn MGM released this title on laserdisc I've been told it's actually Paramount who plan on releasing a DVD.
When? I haven't a clue.

If you can't wait for the official release and don't mind bootlegs you can always get the Laserdisc transferred to DVD-R from this site:

I absolutely LOVE this film, and was lucky enough to see it on the big screen, during it's 1 week!! stay...though the latter parts vary wildly away from the book, I still think it's a 'KEEPER'...
Full-screen kills it.
...and I apologise for saying 'Keeper'.

I have no knowledge of the DVD status of this movie but what a great, cool, atmospheric movie it is. Michael Mann is an awesome director and this movie really pushed visual effects further IMO.
It was just a great combination of great story, horror and performances by Ian Mckellan, Gabriel Byrne (so awesome) and Scott Glenn (one of my favorite tough guys). I hope it comes out soon (trying to stock up on horror/genre DVDs) because it's a great movie to watch at night or rainy day.

I really hope they release it as a director's cut or special edition., and include deleted scenes. From my understanding there is an alternate ending that follows more closely to the book. And speaking of the book i recently re-read Nightworld the sequal to the book.. this is an awsome book ,and would make a great movie!!

I would be very interested to hear what the deleted scenes actually are. Although the film is pretty good I was always annoyed that it did not stick more closely to the book which I though was absolutely excellent.

Michael Mann had such a unique visual style and this film showcased it well. Anybody have any idea what happened to him?
