Ya know what, the wife caught this on cable and said i just had to see it. A vampire flick with Jacky Chan in it. How can you go wrong?

Well, really you can't. As long as you know what to expect form Hong Kong you will LOVE this flick.

Vampires that are actually menacing? Check!

Hot Asian chicks that can kick ass? Double Check!

Jacky Chan kung fu comedy? Check!

The effects in this are pretty good. Combining wire fighting that often does not seem like a wire at all, some well used CGI, and really good fight Choreagraphy (co-director was Donnie Yen) this is quite a nice little movie.

Now the story is certainly cheesey at times, but overall the plot flows fairly well. I was surprised at the dark and gothic camerawork on this one, especially for a HK action flick. The vampire feel was pulled off very well. Admittedly the last third of the movie uses a bit more visuals than actual dialogue to try to propel the story, and it fails a bit, but those visuals used are very well done eye candy.

This is not epic Shakespeare writing here, event hough it IS a loose adaption of sorts of one of his more prominent works. But all in all well worth adding to your collection.

No real gore (a la Versus), but there are some killings and blood involved, these are vampires afterall.

I woudl give it a 3.5 out of 5.

This is better known as The Twins Effect. (The two female leads are HK pop singers in a group called The Twins. )

Yes, it's a decent vampire flick using CGI.

Imagine Blade as an annoying fourteen-year-old Chinese girl with a crush, instead of as Wesley Snipes. It was basically a feature-length episode of something like Sailor Moon. I almost turned it off twice for fear of having my testicles shrivel up. Definitely not my cup of tea, but I'm sure a lot of people will get more into it than I did.
