I, too, haven't seen GOTHIKA (it won't come out until summer 2004 in Austria) but I liked CRIMSON RIVERS and every faggy arthouse cineaste will enthuse about how awesome LA HAINE is so I guess Kassovitz has some talent.

This announcement came as a surprise, though. Last I heard Michael Bay wanted to do it with Will Smith in the lead. I'd say it's a blessing that that didn't come to pass. Anyway, Mark Protosevich's script for I AM LEGEND has been online for years now and is pretty friggin awesome so this could be a great movie. But of course there have been a few dozen rewrites to add funky onliners for governing sex-fiend Ah-nuld Schwartzenpecker back when he was attached to star with Ridley Scott and later Rob Bowman directing. It would be great if they'd stick with Protosevich's original draft but Kassovitz's comments scare me ...

Only time will tell.

Clooney as Neville. Mortensen as Cortman. Christophe Gans directs.

That's all.

Gans is a fine director but I don't need any kung-fu vampire-fighting in I AM LEGEND.

Take out the super-vampires designed to sell action figures and the completely overblown and misfired ending and then, maybe, you can call the script 'awesome'.

I wouldn't mind David Fincher tackling this.
