EA needs some more cash, I guess. Lord of the Rings Trilogy (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/449/449257p1.html)
No real details yet, but it's described as a "action-adventure with RPG elements"....interesting...

Yeah, it was on the end of The Return of the King when you complete it. Just said 'The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, coming 2004'.
EA actually made a deal with New Line a while back to produce three games from the movies, so it's not a new thing. Because they started with Two Towers and missed Fellowship, this is their third and final.

I enjoyed the TTT and ROTK games, but ultimately it becomes a trial to finish them - they are quite simply just hack and slash, and I can't be mithered. You soldier on in the interests of completeness, but are already bored. And you don't score 100% on ROTK unless you do some daft arena type combat thing with one of the characters for about *20* rounds which takes forever.
I really don't give a toss if Legolas can kill 70 orcs and get a perfect score in his mission of killing more stuff, and my fingers hurt after repetitively mashing those buttons. In fact, even Devil May Cry, which appeared to have the same scoring system, had more interactive elements then either of the EA LOTR games.
To be honest, I liked the first Fellowship of the Ring game, with original and not movie designs. It was short but kind of cool. A bit like the heroes.

For me, the ROTK game from EA was a bit more fun than the 2 towers game. Besides, I needed a good hack n slash in between sessions of Gladius.

You forget the most important aspect of the game (which will be out end of 2004): It will have online multiplayer features!

Actually, there is another LOTR game from EA coming out between now and the 3rd action game: "The War of Middle-Earth", which will be a movie-based LOTR game similar to Warcraft.

This is one that looks awesome to me. I think it uses the C&C: Generals engine, and with the disappointing reviews War of the Rings got, hopefully it will be a worthy RTS game with the LOTR name.
There'd better be some playable Gollum. His fisticuffs and missile dropkicks in the last level of ROTK were the stuff of legend.

Not to be a darsh, but im pretty sure its called "The Battle for Middle-Earth" I'm guessing they are doing that to stear clear of War of the Ring. Anyway it should rock me....hard.

I seen screen shots for the "War of Middle Earth" game in a Game Informer magzine. To me it look a lot more of their "Total War" francise then C&C Generals game. Probably because the view look like Total War then Generals.

It's dissapointing that EA hinted at Gollum being playable in ROTK (in an issue of EGM), yet he isn't in there. Bastards.
If I can't play as either Boromir or horse-mounted Theoden (as opposed to horse-mounting Theoden, to be seen in EA's upcoming LOTR beastiality simulator) in this new game, I will pout.
