Very cool, sir. As a fan of the book and the series, I've been meaning to pick this up and see how it's fared since I saw it all those years ago.

I have to ask, the scene where they look into the old book, and Pennywise is there on the street, and then comes alive and stares at the kids. I remember that scared the crap out of me when I first saw it, is that scene still effective?

Yeah, good review...(I read ALL OF IT, don't worry). I haven't seen the full mini-series in awhile, nor have I ever read the book but I definitely should buy this. I loved the way the kids were in it.....a real bond between them as kids ANDS adults, really. You could really see that.

And as always the captions rule. The Jacob's Ladder ones are always great.

I've always imagined Richard Belzer would have nailed the Ritchie role. At least, that's who I was picturing while reading the book back in my freshman year of high school, 1988. Great review, Nick. Made me feel nostalgic again.

I loved the book when it first came out. I was very disappointed by the miniseries. The first half I thought was strong and followed the book, but the ending was just vaguely similar to the book in their battles with the creature and they left tons out. Anyone remember the turtle?

It always warms my heart to see an Al Leong reference anywhere. Great review - pretty much sums up how I feel about both book and series.

And I remember being disappointed that they cut out the Gamera cameo from the book as well.

I've always been of the opinion that this should be a movie. So glad I haven't picked this up now that I read the review.

And Richard Beltzer as Richie=GENIUS.

Just watched this. Was a fixture of my childhood (I remember renting and re-renting it from ShopRite many many times) and it still gives me a nostalgic feeling watching it.

Yeah, the end SUCKS but I just pulled the book out and would like to actually read it to see how it's supposed to be.

This is one of those movies that I have to catalouge in my "What's the big deal?" file. I just don't get the love for this movie. It's not scary, it's not scripted very well, and the scenes where Tim Curry (in his worst case of over-the-top) becomes the kids' individual worst fears are screaming lame. What was so menacing about him?

I just could never get into the movie. Guess it might be because I never saw it as a kid, and therefore lack the nostalgia seemingly required to enjoy it.
