Hello, I'm looking into getting a DVD burner, a digital camcorder and such so I can watch my home videos on DVD. However I know very little about camcorders and DVD burners. Can anyone help me into the direction of prices, models, and any general info? Thanks

My recommendation would be to get the Sony DVR-500 (I think that's the model). It retails for around 300 for an internal drive, and it has DVD-R, -RW, +R, and +RW compatability, so no matter what media eventually wins, you'll have a drive that works.

As far as a digital camcorder, again, I would recommend a Sony. They have both Mini DV and Micro MV cameras. I would probably stick with Mini DV for compatability, but they make excellent camcorders. The prices range from around 500 for an entry level camcorder to about 2000 for their prosumer model with most of the bells and whistles.

Thanks for your advice. I've heard good things about Sony in this area from a lot of people. Thanks again!
