.MOV to .AVI - Anyone know how?

I was wondering if anyone knows a program that I can use to convert .mov quicktime films to .avi or .mpg files. I want to burn some trailers that I have onto a CD (VCD format) to watch with my DVD player. Any help would be cool.

.avi won't play on vcd unless you have one of those new fangled thingyies that support avi.
You can use <a href="http://www.pegasys-inc.com/" target="_blank">TMPGEnc</a> to convert to vcd compliant mpeg. Remember to load the template you need, vcd can be picky.

It isn't the fastest around but it is free. Beware, converting from .mov, .asf, .avi format usually brings HORRIBLE results because the compression isn't great to begin with and your just stretching that. The constant bitrate of vcd also means some bad motion lag at times.

Alright, thanks a lot. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I use Nero Burning ROM and it converted an .avi file then burned to VCD format. It took about 3 hours to convert the files though. But it was about 60 min. of footage.
