Oh, man. What goes on in that head of yours? Just sped through the first four of your stories (how many more to go? forty six was it?) and I love what you're doing with this old abandoned building. I have no idea where it's leading, but I like it a lot. The final line of "Cuts" confuses the hell out of me, but in a good way.

And anybody who uses "Rolling With Kid n' Play" as a way of subtly setting the timeframe for the story is a demented genius.

Looking forward to the rest...

Thank you, Dan. The title of this thread is very flattering. My horror sensibilities stemmed from such literature and I'm honored to be labeled with the same company.

Not that I'm belittling our Lumiere Stories, but I feel that extra explanations about the stories we write should be encouraged. The main reason is so that other writers (current & potential ones) can have an easier time working with crossovers, continuity issues, and the like.

With that here's the story behind "Cuts":

It's around 1990 and Harold Shillings entered an office in an old, abandoned building that used to be an advertising agency (this building has many different offices -- all ripe for various tales). When he picked up the paper with the words, "THIS SUCKS!" it's alluding to the rejected ad pitches/ideas of the copywriters (these copywriters show up in the "Curiosity" story). Anyway, I was also playing with words with that "THIS SUCKS!" phrase: in the conclusion, the makeshift paper knife "sucked" the blood on its victims eyes.

Since Lumiere is a CHUD invention, the inspiration of this story stemmed from the "shills." Hence, Harold Shillings. Subtle, ain't it? Basically, he's possessed/affected by the spirits of those disgruntled ad agency's employees. Harold will then turn into a serial killer who wields creative uses with paper to murder people. And as his dayjob, he will be working at an ad agency. That's pretty much where it's leading to. As a sidenote, I would like to eventually meet up with Johnny and his Mr. Happy. wink
