I just sent this to Nick. I'm posting it so that all of you know what's going on. I need you guys/gals to all know that I don't usually post on the boards a lot, since I don't usually have very much to say. Anyway, here's what I sent:
Hello Nick:
I'm in a bit of a quandary here, and am not sure how to do this, so I am going to be blunt and illogical, in the hopes that something can be done that will help everyone.
Chud Stories is going to die a slow painful death if something is not done, and done soon.
When I volunteered to be an editor, I thought the job would entail going over stories, helping to make improvements if I found a place for them, sending the finished product to you or your proxy, and seeing people's work up and published. Then, the Lumiere project started, and I thought you were happy with it starting (even if the name wasn't your first choice).
After sending you the first 1/2 dozen or so stories, you told me that you needed them re-formatted. I sent you several formats, and haven't heard anything back. I suggested that you add a couple of sections to the site, so that we could have a place for the Lumiere project, and a place to index articles. You said you would, and haven't.
I now have about 20-30 stories that have been edited and are waiting for a good time to send them to you. But I don't want to send them, because of the original 1/2 dozen, you have posted exactly one. I check the site every single day, and you have added no sections, even though you said you would. I now have 6 - yes 6 different editor/publisher types that would be more than happy to put together the occasional article to help the site out, from the publishing angle. I've figured out another 5 different exercises that the people who are writing would probably love to play with - some of them even more challenging than the 500 word story challenge. I've started aiming at people like Warren Ellis and Laurel Hamilton, trying to angle interviews out of them. But, I don't want to continue because nothing will ever be posted at this rate. Why should I bother? If it isn't going to go up, what is the point of the exercise?
Now then, Creature Corner has Johnny Butane. He gets stuff up, makes things happen, and does it all under your approval. Fetal has Shelby, to make sure that everything gets put up that is supposed to. Both of these people have proxies that can work with them, and I know that they have back up scenarios to make sure that things go up and the sites are maintained.
Right now, Chud Stories has you. Just you. But you have about a bazillion other things going on, and apparently, you either don't really care about the site, or are too busy to do what needs to be done. I'm betting on the latter, as you aren't the type of person to do something you don't care about.
So: How does Chud Stories get a Johnny Butane or Shelby? That way, you are still being the one in charge, since it's your site. But we can get a slightly faster response time, so the writers don't lose heart.
Help. Please.

I know that a bunch of you probably think I've been slacking off, but I haven't. I've been editing as best as I can, and really have been trying to figure out what I can do to make this the best writing site out there.
Now then, many of you have offered to help in whatever way you can. Thank you. But, I can't accept any help until I have confirmation that we aren't going to die a stagnant death, because it isn't fair to you, the user.
I'm still working on the stories, as I figure that if I do a good job from the edit point, you may be able to use the stories in some other way later. Once they are finished, though, I don't know what to do.
Anyway, there you guys go.
