Well, it took me forever and a day, but I finally saw it. Very funny. I wholeheartedly enjoyed it.

Anyone else?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to fondle my sweaters... what? I mean, yeah, fondue with cheddar....

Arts and farts and crafts.

This movie is hilarious.

The last scene with the can of mixed vegetables is so dang funny. And like Kirby referenced, the old-time comedian is just amazing stuff. Pretty nice DVD for a movie that didn't really play around.

Thought I was the only man alive who'd seen this film.

Without a doubt, my favorite comedy of 2001. It is a crying shame that this didn't get a wider/more hyped release. However, it has "Guffman" cult status written all over it.

best line: "It's always fun to go to town, even if it's just for an hour!"

Just like to echo the massive praise. I should definitely pick up this DVD sometime.

I found this film funny in parts, but not hilarious like some of you say. I thought some of the humor was over-the-top and inane. I never had the chance to see "The State" on MTV, but I did buy their book called State by State with the State after thumbing through it in Barnes & Noble one day several years ago. It is an absolute riot by the way. Sadly, it's out-of-print, but it is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786882131/qid=1020263737/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-3758496-7875154" target="_blank">available used</a> if you are willing to spend the bucks.

"Fondue some cheddar."

"Stickball, stickteam."

"Just eat the fucking corn."

"You are ready to be shown the way."

"Yeah, I've changed a lot since before dinner."

Comic gold.

Most consistently funny flick I've ever seen.
I force fed it to some friends of mine and they spread the word after soiling the couch with their laugh-dispensed hot urine.
Great, Great, Great, Great movie.
Honestly would have wished they'd left most of the deleted scenes in the movie.
"Hey kid... eat the fucking corn!"

I thought this was a great film. Very very funny most of the way through.

best line: "It's always fun to go to town, even if it's just for an hour!"The running joke of the timeline the movie takes place over is perhaps the funniest part. Along with Paul Rudd's character - ".....whatever.....&lt;SIGH&gt;"

And you can't top that gay sex scene for squirm-inducing hilarity.

Finally saw this over the weekend. Great stuff, highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Absolutely in the top 5 or so funniest films i've ever seen. Just amazingly random and where comedy is concerned, that's what makes me laugh the most.
I NEED to own this, as soon as I get a chance i'm going to buy it and then proceed to show it to everyone I can.

I'm paraphrasing.

"You could say -- that we're all passengers -- on Starship Earth"

A pause.

"When could we say that?"

"Any time. Literally any time."

----

"I hope they all die."

"Don't say that. My friend Jimmy's in there."

"You have a friend?"

"I'm kidding."

After a few viewings, this is truly one of my all-time favorites, and it's easy for me to say that....it's just that funny to me and one of those films that I find infinitely rewatchable. It's that rare film...for me, at least.

"Oh, fuck my cock".

My sig. Not sure if I got it right, word for word that is, but I laughed at that part so hard for some reason.

Also:

I firmly believe this is the best comedy I've ever witnessed. Showalter and Wain are working on a new film this fall which supposedly will be the New York Romantic Comedy to end all New York romantic comedies. Has anyone here seen the Stella shorts? I highly recommend them if you love WHAS.

Forgive me if it was, but if not, why are we insane?

Because this movie is fairly awful. For every inspired scene or moderately funny line of dialogue, there are ten more scenes that are just really, really, REALLY terrible.

And I believe this movie hits comic greatness if only for the hour-long descent into junkiehood set to the dulcet tones of Rick Springfield.

So was "Dracula: Dead and Loving It." Doesn't mean it was a good movie, or a funny movie. I'll take quality over quantity any day.

Look, I realize what the filmmakers were trying to do, and there were a few scenes and lines of dialogue that were inspired, but there were also a LOT of scenes that were basically at a high-school-forensics level of quality. Maybe that's because they're parodying a genre that's already a parody of itself, or maybe it's because the amusing teenagers kept getting shoved to the side so that the awful adult "stars" could get some screentime, I dunno...but something just flat-out didn't work.

Oh, I hope a giant vulture kills Molly Shannon someday soon. Just fucking peck her to death.

Slater seems to have been biased even before he watched the movie. Oh well...

Anyways, they've been having Midnight screenings of this thing everywhere lately. The cult status behind this thing is growing. Is this good or bad?

Either way, WHAS is still extremely funny.

Slater
09-16-2003, 10:25 PM
Yeah, I was probably a little biased. I kept hearing "funniest movie of the last couple years" from a lot of different people, both here and on other sites, so, yeah, I probably went in expecting quite a bit.

Just didn't work for me. I'm glad you guys like it so much, though.

Gotta say, I think hating this movie equals not getting this movie. It's BRILLIANT.

Slater

Gotta say, I thought most of the BRILLIANT jokes and parodies were pretty damn obvious.

But, again, to each his own.
