Plain and simple, this is a fun game. The demo is packaged in the new XBOX mag. It's just amazing looking, too. The lighting in this game is really something. Has a very light feel to it. I could see myself buying this. Might be a sleeper hit, who knows?

Mind giving us a bit of a rundown on it? I've seen little to nothing about it in the press...

Basically, you play as a little Voodoo Doll.

Named Vince. wink

It takes place in New Orleans, and basically you're just running around killing enemies and solving puzzles. But what's cool is the voodoo powers he has. One of them involves a bunch of appliances falling on him out of nowhere. This in turn affects his enemies. Another, he gets chopped in half by a chainsaw.

The whole thing looks great. Plays very smoothly. Pick up the mag, you'll have a lot of fun with this demo.

It sorta reminds me of Blinx, if you played that....

Sounds neat. Thanks, Verbs. Between this and that PS2 demo disk with Ratchet and Clank 2 and True Crime on it you mentioned in the other thread, I should be having some extra fun on the consoles this weekend. Always cool to impress the houseguests with new shit.

I've been jonesing for a quality platformer for a while now (Ape Escape 2 isn't cutting it). It almost sucks that Voodoo Vince, Jak II and Ratchet II are all hitting within a month or so of each other, but at least I'll have enough hoppin' goodness to carry me over to the new year. I really, really hope Microsoft pulls this one off.

Microsoft is giving away copies of this on their retail training website, I should have one coming to me shortly before it releases.

Looks like good fun.

Looks like good fun. What is the name of the site ginving away free copies of I'm guessing the demo since they wouldn't give free copies of the game. Is it microsoft.com or xbox.com or is it some odd obscure name that has nothing to do with microsoft and xbox yet it does?

If you in some way, shape, or form sell XBOX products (or if you just wanna lie on the sign-up process), the XBOX website has a retail training section where you can take quizzes to earn points, and the points can be spent on Microsoft-published games. Stuff like NFL Fever 2004, Shenmue 2, Halo, Phantasy Star, and Mech Assault is on there...all for free. Voodoo Vince is being given away in a contest, but it will probably be available after it comes out to anyone who has the right amount of points.

This demo was alright- but I was more impressed with Metal Arms. That game looks pretty damn amazing- been a while since I played a good shootemup.

I checked out the XBox site and couldn't find anything. Could you be a little more specific VK?

Thanks

Should be on this page:

http://retail.microsoft.com/retail/xbox/default.asp

And yeah, Con...Metal Arms kicks ass. But were you as thrown off as me by the weird positioning of your character? Why can't it be centered? That sorta pissed me off.

I appreciate it VK. I earned over 1500 points and was going to get Mech Assault until I realized that they wanted more than $8 for shipping. I wonder if I order two or more games at a time what the shipping would be?

I figure the 8 bucks is a small price to ask for a game that should be full price.

What have you gotten VK? Do you think they'll get a bigger selection or is this as good as it gets?

I've gotten Mech Assault, Phantasy Star Online, and Shenmue 2. NFL Fever 2004 is on its way in the mail. They'll pretty much put most every game on there that is published by them, so expect every XSN sports title to go on there.

I myself have acquired MechAssault, Rallisport Challenge, Halo, Oddworld, and NFL Fever. My next order (which should come in a week or so) will have Inside Something 2003, NFL Fever 2004, and an Advanced AV Pack. If you order 2 games, shipping is $12.99, and 3 games is $18 or so.

The games are also SKUed the same as regular ones, so you can go into any old Best Buy and swap them for new ones (as long as they are unopened).

I like how the mailman likes to hold onto my subscription a lot longer than normal places do...x-box mag finally came in today.

Gave the demo a ride and all I can say is it was a fun little platformer. It was pretty, I liked the music, the camera was somewhat forgiving, and highly addicting to see what new voodoo powers you could use on your enemies.

I look forward to this bastard when it comes out next week.

I also cant wait for Psyconauts (supposed to look like a Tim Burton movie)

That Xbox retail team thingie is tempting. Are there any legal ramifications that could get me in actual trouble if I fabricate a few details on the application? Because I've worked in game retail before, but I don't work there at the moment... I'd like to score some free games, but I don't particularly want to go to jail, either.

I got about 4 free games, though.

Slater: Several months ago I did it and I'm still a free man. I've never worked game retail.

Got to play around with the full version while away in canada. Turns out my brother traded his copy of Buffy 1 to a cousin who though VV was too hard.

In the 4 or so hours I played on and off last week, mostly on thanksgiving day, this turned out to be one enjoyable platformer. There were times I had to fight the camera, but not too often. Really, what shined with the game was the amazing level design and creativity in the puzzles. While it's easy to take potshots at Sunshine, it has to be said this is one of the better platformers I've played in a long time. And it did get hard as I got deeper into the bastard, but when nailing the tougher parts it was satisfying after all was said and done.

I just wish I had more time to finish it, but I needed to join the real world once more.

I love the look on his face when he checks his crotch after coming to life in the opening intro.

I'm stuck on the 2nd or 3rd level. I can't find the gas to power that truck.

The gas comes from those smack talking pumps at the end of the level. The trick is to blow them bastards up. How? Fire.

Once you add one and one together, and you probably already have...you too will realize the game is genius. or something.

or pm me for a more straight up answer.
