This one kinda slipped out quietly. I picked it up from Blockbuster Saturday evening on my gamer's pass.
THEME: The premise of the game is - as wierd as it sounds - like a game version of the flick Hart's War...or maybe even a more serious Hogan's Heroes. The setting is WWII and your character is imprisoned in a Nazi P.O.W. Camp and the goal is to escape.
GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is actually quite clever though. It's all about being stealthy and using your wits to sneak about after lights out and leap fences avoiding guards to get items that will aid your escape. Other prisoners will also aid you in your escape. You'll need to talk to everyone to get your bearings on how to escape. The daring gameplay aspect is that there are NO WEAPONS. You rely strictly on your wits to sneak about the camp and set up alliances with other prisoners. The first mission I had to sneak about and steal some cigarettes from the infirmary after lights out to use as "money" to pay off another prisoner to help me with my escape plans.
GRAPHICS: The graphics are nice...not pushing the Box too hard...but are especially nice at night while sneaking around after lights out. The search lights and flash lights of the guards look really nice. The guards have a little cone of vision that shows up on the radar like the guards in Metal Gear.
OVERALL: I'm not too far into it...but it seems like it could be a sleeper hit. With Buffy and Dead To Rights dropping this week - it could get lost in the shuffle..but I'd recommend checking it out if any of the gameplay aspects I described sound appealing. This one definitely isn't for every one...but could be quite addicting to many. But remember it's all about sneaking and there are NO GUNS. No Medal of Honor style action here..more of an adventure title.
