I turned on my TV Saturday morning and my dad tells me that there is a channel that is playing all these cinematc scenes from games. I looked at it and saw the G4 logo on the bottom of the screen. I had heard about this channel back in Feb, but I thought that it would never actually come on to my cable provider. Anyway this channel is so awesome. The channel has 13 original series. They basically have a show for every type of game fan and genre. My favorite shows are "Cinematech", this show shows the opening and big scenes from games. Yesterday they showed the D-Day mission from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for the PC, which was awesome, and they showed the love scene from FFX(I would have been pissed if I hadn't gotten to that part in the game and had seen it there.) My other favorite show is called "Icons", and it gives the history of game series, and their developers.
I have Comcast Digital Cable, and for me living in Southern NJ, it is Channel 138. So just check around your cable or satalite system and see if you have it, it is really good, and better than Tech TV.

Yeah...Wil Wheaton has a show called Arena on it. He usually talks endlessly about it on his website. It's pretty cool from what I've seen.
A cable channel would be very cool for this.

Tony Ryan is uncool:
Sounds like a bore.Man, not to me. I really want this channel.
Getting digital cable in the future will be the only way, though....

Can a whole channel devoted to games be fun, how fun is it to watch people play games? I think it's overkill, I think like one show on one channel is enough, doesn't ZDtv or TechTV or whatever it is now have a channel like that, already?

Yeah, TechTV has the show "Extended Play", formerly Gamespot TV.
It goes beyond just watching people play, it's like a 30-minute magazine, really. All previews/reviews and cheat codes and stuff.
Now, imagine that 24/7.
But I sorta don't like TechTV. It's mostly a waste and they show the same episode of 1 show like 3 times a day. It's like they're lazy.
The Screen Savers and Extended Play are the only shows I really like.

Over a year later since the channel launched and it is doing very well for a new network. I still watch this channel every day and gotten to know Tommy Tallarico really well from the show Judgement Day. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks of the channel over a year later?

My digital cable still doesn't offer this channel.

I think it's pretty annoying actually. Judgement Day is good but the rest suck. The hosts are teen soap star wannabees and have no clue about what they're talking about. It's all style over substance. I watched it for a week or so but now I can't stand to have it on anymore. It could be good someday possibly and it is popular and doing well but I wouldn't miss it if it went away.

Too many fucking reruns.
Other than that, the stuff I haven't actually seen 20 times alrady is great.

One thing I have to give them is that their E3 coverage, even though we had to wait until the last day of E3 for it, was great. They had so many E3 specials. Every show on G4 had it's on E3 specials and some shows had 3-4 E3 specials, which were great.

I thought they pissed away a perfect opportunity to showcase E4's potential at E3. Here's a major cable channel with cameras and hosts and the whole nine yards and what do they do? Dumbass treasure hunting bullshit waste of time crap. By the time they aired anything I f'ckin knew about it already and had seen most of it. They should have used their muscle to get video exclusives and meaningful interviews and whatnot but do they? No. They should also be shooting in high def. Screw em, MTV junior.

Not having seen the channel, are they targeting the teen crowd more than adults? Because last time I checked the stats, regular gamers tended to skew towards the 24-35 year-old market.

force of habit.
if you play video games, you'll watch it. G4 is part of my daily flipping. I'll always turn it to G4 if nothing else is on. I'll even watch lame reruns..
hell it's freakin video games, so I'm down.

That's what pisses me off the most, a channel devoted to my favorite hobby and I can't see it at all, even if it is shitty. Argh!

The programming is pisspoor and unbalanced, hosts are annoying, And the simple fact that they talk about a month old game as if it came out today and rarely have anything live on the network... well they have alot of work to do.
But I'll be damned if I don't watch the thing non stop everytime the TV is on. Its as idiotic as me watching SportCenters all morning long.

I watched the tv station a lot my first couple months I had digital cable and it came out... BUUUUT... after a couple months, I got sick of the constant re-runs and just unorganized repeats and old-news of weeks past. They have a lot of potental, and I am sure if they find their groove it could take off, but ehh.. give me TechTV, at least they have things that are useful to someone like myself. Not a bad station concept, but... well, they need to get a little bit better content and be more up to date. I watched them durring E3 last year and was less than impressed, so I can only imagine how they bombed the E3 coverage this year.

Neo Evil Kain:
but ehh.. give me TechTVNo. Do not give me TechTV. As much as G4 reruns shit, at least there's a much better chance you WILL catch something you haven't seen. TechTV is fucking worse. The same episodes of some shows come on 3 times a day....seriously.
I was pissed at TechTV long before G4....G4, I shouldn't even complain about because 3 months ago I was begging for it, now i'm taking it for granted since we got digital cable.
