From USA Today:

Microsoft said Wednesday it was slashing the price of its Xbox game console by a third in the U.S. and Canada and by 29% in Japan as a price war between console makers heats up.

The discount, which Reuters reported earlier on Wednesday, had been expected and is the latest salvo in the battle of the $20 billion video game market.

In a related cost-saving move, Microsoft said it will shift Xbox production near Hong Kong from Hungary by July or August. It will maintain a facility in Gudalajara, Mexico.

The Xbox price cut, to $199 from $299 in the United States immediately and to $193.12 from $271 in Japan effective May 22, comes two days after Sony Corp. said it would cut the U.S. price of its market-leading PlayStation 2, which came out a year before Xbox, to $199.Read the whole article here.

With the price cut I may grab one of these when Molineaux's Project Ego or B.C. comes out. Both games are phenomenal looking and will be X-Box exclusives, the bastards.

Anybody heard what Nintendo is up to? With all prices the same now is anybody going to sacrifice a DVD player for the Nintendo exclusives?
