The Matrix game will now appear on all systems, instead of just an X-box exclusive. I love it when I'm right.

"April 25, 2002 - Infogrames' possible $47 million transaction secures it the exclusive worldwide rights to develop and publish videogames based on the Wachowski Brothers directed sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. This impressive deal is expected to be solidified within one week, following the satisfaction of certain closing conditions.

Last under Interplay's watchful eye, The Matrix games may be published for all major platforms according to Infogrames. However, the company hasn't yet announced specific details. The transaction also secures Infogrames exclusive rights to Shiny's "Advanced Tessellation Technology," and all tools associated with The Matrix development project.

We contacted Infogrames regarding the possibility of The Matrix debuting at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in May. A company spokesperson noted that the company is still deciding whether or not it will show the Shiny-developed The Matrix title. Additionally, the representative reiterated that the title is slated for release on all major platforms, and is not exclusive to one system.

"To add Shiny and The Matrix franchise to our portfolio is a tremendous coup for Infogrames," said Bruno Bonnell, chairman and CEO of Infogrames. "Shiny's outstanding development team has a proven track record for creating innovative games that push the envelope, making the studio a wonderful addition to our growing in-house development team, and underscoring our commitment to assembling the best talent in the industry under the Infogrames banner."

Hinting at a multiplatform release Mr. Bonnell continued saying, "The revenue potential for The Matrix on multiple platforms is tremendous, making The Matrix Reloaded a premier title in our line-up for fiscal 2003. The Matrix is one of the most desirable franchises within this industry. Its popularity and cult status are undeniable, and its movie fan base encompasses the quintessential gaming audience."

Though no details are known about what direction Shiny Entertainment plans to take the Wachowski Brothers directed franchise, it is believed that the firm will use its latest cutting-edge 3D game engine for the project, based on groundwork laid down for its PC title Sacrifice. The first game based on the movie is expected to fall under the action-adventure genre and with Shiny involved there are bound to be a few unique twists to boot.

According to Shiny Entertainment president Dave Perry, the developer is working very closely with The Matrix's Wachowski brothers and has full access to materials related to the movie. "This is going to be a big project. It's probably the most kick-ass project in the industry right now," he said.

Regarding the deal, Mr. Perry also commented, "Infogrames has a legacy of attracting the best development teams in the business and they've built a reputation for being extremely supportive of creative talent. We are thrilled to be joining the Infogrames family, which clearly shares our enthusiasm for and belief in The Matrix franchise."

Upon the closing of the deal, Shiny will become an internal development studio for Infogrames, joining developers such as Reflections Interactive (Driver, Stuntman) and Legend Entertainment (Unreal, Unreal Championship). Currently Shiny's The Matrix title is scheduled to come to fruition in May 2003 to release in conjunction with the theatrical release of The Matrix Reloaded.

We'll have more information as soon as it is available. Until then, continue to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Not that I think it really matters but....

The fact that this game will not be an Xbox exclusive really changes very little because:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">It's a license and thus has a questionable future to begin with <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I've already played it using Bullet Time in Max Payne <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If it follows the trend then the Xbox version will have better graphics and additional game play. The just released Spiderman game in fact has two extra levels and an extra villian. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">With the presence of three fine systems in the market I think we will see more and more of this type of thing. The risk versus reward of spreading titles to all systems is apparently attractive to struggling software houses. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If it does succeed in being a quality title then many gamers on all platforms get another good game to choose.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">

based on the sole fact alone that those x-box peeps get to rip their own tunes into Tony Hawk 3 is almost enough reason to believe in that oversized technological terror.

halo though is nothing compared to the power of MOHAA or Ghost Recon.

But then, I look at the screen shots of some of those yummy yum yums in those fighting games on the x-box and ask why?

I'd invest in it too just for Gotham racing but soon this summer another Need For Speed Hot Pursuit game is scheduled for all systems. I can bide my time with porche unleashed until then.

Shit...a lack of sleep makes me sound like some meandering 15 year old kid who'd shoot a load off if I saw a pair of chichi's in a sears catalog.

Maybe it's time to go to sleep. Goodnight chud.
