Since I think the Gamecube is a great great system, I thought I would list the reasons why the GCN will be da BOMB!!!
1. Metroid Prime
2. Super Mario Sunshine
3. Zelda (I don't care if you bitch about cel-shading or not, this game is gonna be awesome)
4. Eternal Darkness
5. Resident Evil franchise plus good Capcom support
6. StarFox Adventures
7. MARIO KART (maybe even online too)
8. Smash Bros.
9. Perfect Dark Zero
10. Any other game made by Rare because they ROCK
11. Any other game made by Nintendo because they ROCK
12. Done forget Animal Forest+/Animal Crossing, the innovative communication game that was a smash hit in Japan, coming this fall.
13. Better 3rd party support than N64
14. POKEMON!!!
15. GameCube and GameBoy Advance Interconnectivity
16. Squarsoft will make some games for Nintendo again YEA!!!!!!!
17. A Camelot RPG unamed as of yet (maybe Golden Sun sequal)
18. Sega support, although IMHO Sega is whoring all their good stuff out to M$
19. Best Controller Ever...
20. Plus, it's just soo darned cute.
And just so you know I am 19 and no GCN isn't all kiddy. Anybody who uses that excuse is just insecure with themselves. I own a PS2 also

There's just one for me.
It appears as if Gamecube will have the only halfway decent next-generation Wrestling game.
So when Wrestlemania hits the GC at the beginning of June, I pick me up both.
Elsewise, the box is pretty much useless at the moment.

I'm surprised the ps2/xbox fanboys haven't mauled you Overmind. Most of your reasons for owning a gamecube are based on vapor ware that has yet to surface.
As for now, the real reason to own a cube?
Smash Bros Melee, Pikmin, and Rogue Leader.
Two of those games are pure gaming nirvana.
Smash Bros because it's so addicting and fun, you forget about time (unless your hands start getting sore).
Rogue Leader because it's just so purty while at the same time giving gamers the chance to relive those classic Star Wars moments.
so there it is.

PS2 Fan Right HERE.
Reasons to own a GC, Rouge Squadron, Resident Evil (When this game is out, that is probably when I get my GC), Zelda (I don't care how cartoony he looks, it's still a Zelda game), Mario Sunshine, and the biggest reason, Metriod Prime!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I have longed for a new Metriod game....

My current Gamecube collection:
Luigi's Mansion - Not a Great game but well made
Super Smash Brothers - Whole lot of fun
Super Monkey Ball - This game is a complete blast and a total surprise
Rogue Leader - Pretty and fairly playable
Purchases in the near future:
Pikmin
Resident Evil
Batman:Dark Tomorrow broke my heart when it was delayed
I really like having all three systems (I would be a one system man if a friend hadn't thrown me some sweet deals on the Cube and PS2) because I can get the exclusive stuff on each. I think the Gamecube may have the edge on exclusive titles with the Nintendo legacy behind it.
Anything I can get on multiple platforms I buy on the Xbox. Say what you will but the system is technically capable of better graphics and all other factors being equal I'll take the prettier scenery.
Ever since I got hooked up with my PS2 I have a hard time staying away from it. It's amazing how quickly technology develops. Three years in a row (I think that's right) we have gotten revolutionary systems. The Dreamcast, PS2, and Xbox.
Unfortunately right now my Gamecube gets the least of my attention because the library is just not there yet.
What I don't understand is how anyone can say that any of these systems suck. I mean they each bring very good things to the table.
For all those people that wish one or more of these systems will fail I ask you this:
What would the result be?
I think it would mean less choices, higher prices, and slower evolution.
I hear people (including myself) lamenting the death of the Dreamcast all the time. What if it had survived and provided real competition for the PS2 (remember all the DC units that sold when the PS2 was underproduced)?
Would Sony have dropped the PS2 price here in America like they have in other places?
Lets say that the rumored price cuts do happen. Can anyone really say that they wouldn't want an Xbox or PS2 at $200? How about a Gamecube at $150 or less?
I personally think it is a great time to be a gamer. I get excited wondering what these three corporate giants are going to do to earn my business.

I doubt that MS will drop their price anytime soon, they still think that their shit don't stink too, for lack of a better phrase. They still have a PC market mentality going that they think no matter how much will charge people will buy because "WE ARE MICROSOFT". Well, this isn't the PC, so you guys aren't the only ones on the block, and until they realize that they put too much into one console, and must sell a $460 console for only $300, that system is going to have some major problems down the road. That is MS forced some retailers to sell three games with the system, an extra controller, DVD remote, and a memory card extra on top of that pretty little $299 price. Being a marketing major next year, never tell a consumer they have to pay more than what they should pay for something.

How can you acknowledge that Microsoft is losing $160 per console and then argue that the consumer is paying too much for it.
I don't have all of the facts I'll admit but to the best of my knowledge Microsoft did not force any retailers to bundle the system. And the bundled prices I saw here in the Atlanta area were not any higher than what the cost of the individual pieces would have been.
As a matter of fact I bought a bundled system when I got mine. I got the system, an extra controller, Halo, Madden, and Project Gotham all for no more than I would have paid separately.
So I ask you:
What are the real reasons that people believe the Xbox, Gamecube, or PS2 suck? Are people just trying to justify their choices by shooting down the others?
Ryo Hazuki

The reason for the bundling was so make up for that $160 loss on every system. Also the point I was trying to make was if you are going to take that kind of lost on every system, then why did you put so much stuff in it. Don't get me wrong X-box is tremendous piece of hardware, and it was a system built with gamers in mind. So gamers wouldn't have to go out and buy a hard drive or an ethernet card or stuff like that. But the games aren't there, MS still thinks just because they have that MS name on the box people will buy. Unlike Game Cube or PS2, what games does X-box have exclusive that will move systems in the future? Project Ego, maybe? But I wouldn't hold my breath for that one.

Elder Scrolls Morrowind - Potential to sell systems, may be too inside.
Hunter the Reckoning - Not a system seller.
Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter- Potentially
Mech Assault- Not a system seller.
Halo 2 - Damn good system seller, but if you didn't buy an X-box for Halo already then why buy one for Halo 2?
Brute Force - Don't know anything about it yet.
Bruce Lee - Maybe move systems at first, but being developed by Dream Factory (The Bouncer), isn't going to hold interest long.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic- Potentially a system seller, but may not have the overall appeal that Rogue Leader did for GC.
Also you left one exclusive out that will probably move a whole shit load of systems which is Shenmue 2, let's just hope that MS isn't putting all their chips into Shenmue 2.

I think XBOX's biggest title is Project Ego, provided it delivers. I would buy an XBOX for that game if it turns out to be that good. But otherwise, those XBOX exclusives you listed, are kinda like ass, especially the Bruce Lee one. Have you seen the screens? Ass. Especially since xbox gamers are graphics whores.

That's BS! Why did everyone that bought a PS2 buy it when it came out? Because it was the latest and greatest. If graphics didn't matter then why not just stick with the PS1?
All gamers want to be as close to the leading edge of gameplay as they can be and that includes graphics.

I know this is an old thread, but starting a new one for a game that is still a few months off seemed silly. Just wondering if anyone else has watched the preview movie for Metroid Prime, Best Buy was running it last night and man, this game looks fucking incredible. I normaly feel like an idiot staring at those game screens in the store but this one was amazing.

Gotta second that. I picked up UT 2003 yesterday and just stared at the TV showing the Metroid in-game footage for a bit. Awesome.

Awesome.Did it show the footage of Samus fighting a huge (I'm guessing boss but who knows) monster that is up on a raised platform? There is so much going on in that scene it is incredible, large monster, floating platform, shields circling the monster, Samus on the ground targeting and blasting said monster. Awesome.
