Campy, old-school comic book RPG, with a Baldur's Gate style "pause-and-command" turn system for combat.

The 3D engine is very crisp, and the camera movement allows for some pretty fantastic views while combat is paused. You can position it mid-fight to get some cool "panel" views, and if you pause it just right you can even get a "WHACK!" or "POW!" in there :)

The music is extremely well done, and seems to really capture the theme well. The story seems to be fairly linear, but the panel-by-panel comic feel makes this seem like less of a shortcoming than it normally would.

And that doesn't even cover the Superhero builder. The demo only has one model/skin, but the full range of powers/attributes/skills is available.

I hear that the multiplayer is the weak point, but that is being patched soon. The first 2 scenarios in the demo are a real treat, and I heartily recommend that you give it a try. Superhero games have traditionally sucked, but I think we may have a winner here.

Thanks! I've been reading the reviews on this one for a long time. I'll check out the demo!

Been waiting for some kind of 'Villians and Vigilantes' type PC game for a long time. I hope this one does well. I'm interested in seeing what they do with the two sequels that are planned.

I've heard that the sequels will progress thematically into advancing eras of the comic world.

FF2, in theory, would have more of an 80's style, and FF3 would potentially have a Gaiman-esque dark feel to it. Or here's hoping, anyways.

Lemme know what you think of the Hero generator. Man, I could play with that thing for hours. Waco Kid, to the rescue!

I bought this game a couple of days ago. I'm very happy with it, particularly it's campiness. I haven't tried out the multiplayer yet,but I hope that the lack of the pause function doesn't detract from the premiere of "Captain Cathode".

p.s. love the new boards, by the way

I think you can pause by hitting the space bar. Atleast you can in the demo.

I'm up to the mission with the acid-spewing ants. I may have to reload and try out some different teammates. But the game is a blast so far, and I love the cheesy '60's retro look and voice work.

Oh, and Kudos to the dev team for giving us a manual that's worth a damn!
