This question has probably been asked before but what the hell.
Iīm from Iceland. I guess some of you donīt know where it is. Itīs a small country in the North of the Atlantic ocean. There only live about 300 thousand people in our country. Iceland is a rich nation. Very few poor people thank god. Despite the name of the country there is never very cold here but also never warm enough. There are lot of volcanoes here and glaciers. Our only celebrity is Björk (Bjork).
People here love movies. In the capital were I live (Reykjavik with 160 thousand people) there are 7 cinemas. There is a LOTR fever here right now. About 80.000 people have seen TTT, nearly a third of the population and itīs still going strong.

I live in Dallas, TX (USA), but I'm originally from a small town called New Iberia in Louisiana (also USA). It's not too far from New Orleans (or as we locals say it, N'Awlins).

I'm from the moderately temperate, Glendale, AZ. But my brother, more interestingly, was born in Vicenza, Italy.
We were Air Force brats. I'm currently researching and writing a book on my Mom's life, and the life of her immediate family. It's absolutely amazing what one person can do in their life.

Gandalf, aren't Gus Gus and Sigur Ros from Iceland? Those are two incredible groups, IMO. I realize that Bjork is the most well-known (and deservedly so), but I absolutely love everything Gus Gus has put out so far, and their latest album is tremendous, too.
Anyway, my story is very boring - I was born here in Northampton, MA, which is a great little city full of diversity and culture. I owe much of who I am and what I know to this area. I grew up here, and am still currently living here. See how exciting that was? :)
I feel like there's another group who I really enjoy who are from Iceland, but I can't remember... Oh well, cool thread! Nice to meet you.
:)

Newfoundland, the most easternly part of north america
<img src="http://www.freedata.ca/images/newfoundland.png" alt="" />
I am from the canadian province of Newfoundland, known for its beautiful scenery, friendly people, and dogs with webbed feet.
-Home of the first city in North America (St. John's our capital) and the oldest street in north america (water street).
-Percieved as drunken, inbred, dumb, hicks by the rest of canada.
-Has the largest University in Atlantic Canada.
-Did you know a Newfie invented the gas mask?
-the Vikings settled here when THEY discovered north america.
<img src="http://www.walkingtheworld.com/assets/images/newfoundland/trips_newfoundland_04.jpg" alt="" />
-some of the most scenic areas in the world.
-The giant hydro facility in Churchill Falls, Newfoundland, provides power to provinces across Canada as well as some states in America, such as Maine and New York.
-Newfoundland routinely has the lowest crime rate in Canada
-We have our own time zone!
-TheMayflower stopped in at Renews (eastern Newfoundland) in 1620, to pick up supplies, during its voyage to present day Massachusetts, U.S.A.
-Natasha Henstridge was born in Springdale, Newfoundland.
-So was Shannon Tweed.
"The shipping News" took place here and was even filmed here.
And finally, we have some very strange town names such as Conception Bay, Moose head and the strangest of all community names:

CHICAGO, baby! I'm never leaving.
I believe the original pronunciation was Chickago, if I'm not mistaken. It's an Indian word. Heh...
And folks..PLEASE..it's not O'Hare's or O'Hara, but O'Hare Airport. Thank you. :p

*Singing*
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It's the country for me.
You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.
Not every country has its own Monty Python song.

I have been there a few times to ski.

Well really its Lindenwold , New Jersey , pretty big city. You can get to basically anywhere in the country due to the Lindenwold Rail system that connects with Amtrack. Lived there for 7 years , now I live on campus at Rutgers U.
