Alright so SJR made mention in the EQ thread that he wanted to get together and see this movie Friday night.

I had already planned on bringing some people along to see the movie already but it would be awesome if the CHUD LA Chewers could get together for this movie and show some support.

So far no times and no theatres have been mentioned but this is LA and I am sure it will have some good places to go. We should aim for the best theatre possible.

Is anyone up for this?

I was really planning on Adaptation this weekend, but if we go as a group it might be more fun to do EQ. I'll consider it.

I wish we knew which screens it was showing on. I'm up for seeing it at the Grove or somewhere that has a decent sound system. The system at the Paseo complex in Pasadena is decent as is the one at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

I'd say aim at a 9:30-10:00-ish screening so that people are all off work and aren't RACING to catch a 7:00-ish one.

Equilibrium, in my humble opinion, is a better movie than Adaptation.

Let me know where you guys decide to be at and I'll try hard to get there. Out of curiousity, is anyone going December 20th to see "The Matrix" at the Nuart?

I can tell you don't want to meet a single one of us!

Saddened I am.

Hey wait weren't you the guy who said he was in a shop or something one day and a person with a CHUD shirt came in and you made sure not to say a thing?

Hurt I am...

I would like to offer up the Universal Citywalk as a better option than the Arclight. I fucking hate the Archlight, honestly, and because the prices are high, the crowd won't be filled up.

I'd like to suggest aiming for the 10:00 p.m. screening there.

Well we have at 10:50 a showing and earlier of course is like 8:10.

So do we make a deal?

And where is all the other LA Chewers?

And yeah, I don't like the Arclight. Universal did screenings there for awhile and I never really got into it as a venue.

But fuck, my favorite places to see movies are usually old, rundown, trashed out places like the Orpheum anyway.

CTDeLude

So Citywalk it is then...

Deacon

so what's wrong with the Arclight? I've never been but just heard the hype.

Smilin' Jack Ruby
12-06-2002, 05:57 PM
It's hard to get an audience there as it's usually pretty empty and I like seeing movies with audiences. It's in the middle of nowhere and it's expensive - but for a theater that's just not that great. I've seen a handful of movies there and just didn't think it lived up to all the crazy hype about it.

CTDeLude
12-06-2002, 06:44 PM
I like theaters with less of an audience but there can be times to see it with a lot of people. I will be seeing TTT at Arclight for the sheer fact it is very comfortable and I can expect a better crowd then most.

I can see where one can see it isn't all that but after going to the Pacific Winnetka theatre for most of my time this theatre is a God send.

That and I can see some celebs while I'm there (let's just say that even though I know most celebs are f'ed up or just plain a horror to stand I still am a boy from the Valley)

Sound wise I love the theatre and it has digital projectors which you just cant go wrong with.

The Arclight totally spoiled me. I go there for special occasion movies with the wife, the rest I'll catch at the local AMC.

You missed out LA Chewers.

You really did.

Smilin' Jack Ruby
12-07-2002, 02:46 PM
It was a lot of fun, I liked the movie even MORE the second time seeing it, and we had a pretty solid turn-out of folks. I guess it's okay to admit now that, yes, Kurt Wimmer and his extended family (and stuntmen) joined us for the screening and whooped it up with the rest of us.

And by "missing out," CTDelude means that not as many Sewer Chewers got to see me and beaks go gun-kata on each other in the atrium outside the Citywalk theater. Really great to see the movie with a big group of people who were really into the flick.

Oh yea there was that part too.

Did I mention that I had a nice little chat with the guy?

Very nice and cool guy.

Found out loads about the movie.

I saw equilibrium at the arclight because my friends. (or my girlfriend's best friends),said that it was clean,modern,calm,etc...and It was,..while watching this film, I felt extreme relaxation..(no one was kicking the back of my seat)..no fuckin' portable phones..no crying,no screaming...etc.

but next time, i'll go see Intacto by myself. so there should be no problems. I'll have carte blanche.

usually, small theatres (specialised in foreign, and indie films are the best).
