I was hoping one of the revival houses would be showing a cool horror flick, since I had such a great time seeing Evil Dead at the Egyptian last year, but all I can find is Caligari at the Silent Movie Theater, and I've seen that enough times. Anyone have a clue?

My Black Sabbath cover band is playing a house party. Come up to Oregon and have some Rat Salad!

Heheh...did you know that the band that would eventually become Van Halen went by that name for a while?

I knew there were about 100 sabbath cover bands by that name but no, not the Halen, heh.
I think we're calling ourselves Big Black Shape this year(from the song Black Sabbath).

OK, right now it's looking like Happiness of the Katikurais at The Nuart.

Damn! I didn't even think about this. I'll only have been in California for a couple days before Halloween happens. Are there any cool events out there for the season? I'd definitely say go hit up Happiness of the Katakuris. I saw it in New York like 2 months ago. It's definitely a classic. I laughed my ass off. Miike is a strange, strange man. Did you say something about a silent movie theater?

I just checked out the link. I'm looking forward to checking this place out sometime in the near future. I had no idea that anyplace anywhere still did stuff like this. Getting information like this is what's gonna help me be a little happier living out there.

There used to be this dollar theater 2 blocks from my house, called The Eagle. Been closed for a long time. It's been purchased by the guy that owns Fred 62 (cool/annoying diner in Los Feliz), with the intention of opening a restaurant next door connected to the theater. Apparantly, the theater itself will have "little living rooms" in it, rather than the usual rows of chairs. Anyway, they open Saturday before Halloween, with a showing of Rocky Horror, which I haven't seen in the theater since probably 1990.
Meanwhile, still trying to complete my Hunter S. Thompson costume. I have the Hawaiian shirt, aviator glasses and cigarrette holder, but I need the hat. I figured out that it's a fishing cap (I think they're also called "bucket hats"). Anyonw know where I'd get one of those? Seems like it'd be an easy item to find, but I don't know where to look...

Attack of The Clones is playing at the 2 dollar theater at the South Bay Galleria. But, if you want REAL fun, check out the KROQ Halloween concert.

In the current LA Weekly on page 101 there's an ad for Caligari at the silent Movie Theater and another for Phantom of the Opera (1943) at UCLA.
And the theater on Beverly near La Brea must be doing something, I don't know what.
And Nightmare Before Christmas at El Capitan

Looked up the New Beverly and they are showing The Thing (1982) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Sunday thru Tuesday only.

Nuart has cancelled Katakuris for some reason, so I think it's gonna be The Ring at the Arclight, then hit a friend's Halloween/Birthday party in the area.
I skipped the Rocky Horror thing because it was $31 for tickets (benefit for GLAD...no, that's not misspelled. Strangely, considering the movie, it was not the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, but the Greater Los Angeles council for the Deaf...how that spells "GLAD" is beyond me) and was at 5:30pm instead of the traditional midnight. And after searching all over town for the Hunter Thompson hat, I printed out a picture, showed it to my wife, who promptly informed me that we had that exact hat in the closet.

What's the parking situation like at the Arclight?

Muy convenient. The adjacent parking structure validates with ticket purchase.
