Since I'll be on the radio talking about why I'm doing the show from Los Angeles this Friday intead of Atlanta, I realized that any secrecy about me showing up at CHUDWest would be spoiled.
Yeah, I'll be there. I'm taking two HIDEOUS layovers (Pittsburgh on the way there and Charlotte on the way back) to do it, but I'll be there.
So if you were on the fence about going to said event, let it be known I will be there for better or worse (as well as the Friday dinner at VIDA). I believe Y.T. and SJR will be joining me, and Moriarty said he'd try to stop by for a while as well.
I have a breakfast on Friday and a pitch Friday afternoon, but my Sunday is pretty open in case anyone wants to have a little fun. Monday might be open, but I hope it gets filled quickly.
I leave Tuesday morning.
So, the bag's opened. I'll be there from Thursday evening on. God help you all.

Nick, I was so caught off guard I was unable to speak or even write, that's how stunned I was. (THAT NEVER happens to Ol' Will, BTW.)
Not mundane, incredible. I bet the others are just in shock as I was and are still unable to physically respond. I am probably just in a little better shape than most of them and could throw off the effects of the announcement a little faster. We are pumped and NOW life is complete.
I have some shirts and hats and a surprize or too in my sack. Wanna get your hands on ol' Will's sack?

Well, I was checking that out myself...I was thinking of going Saturday since you get a Hideo Nomo Bubblehead doll. wink But if you're thinking Sunday, I'm there. From 10:30 to 4:00 Latin music in the parking lot.
As for tickets...I checked the Dodgers website and the best they can do is second deck or field level down right or left field. What's the scalper situation like in L.A.?

You are more than welcome. 6:30 PM Vida on Hillhurst a mile or less south of Los Feliz on the left if you are going South. There IS a sign out in front now, where there did not used to be one at all. It's the private back room or ask for the private party that Suzzane is waiting on. There will be nobody there but chewers, Kronos, Rylander, Hot Animal Machine, HizHonerDaMayer, Nick, Blofeld, Nelson, Subotai, CTDelude, Will and maybe one or two others. Of course Suzanne will be there too. I am willing to pay for the chewer's dinners, but if they bring people with them we would all be unable to fit in the room and besides, I'm not paying for second cousins, step mothers and the like. I figure the bar tab alone, with Nick being there, could break even the likes of me. I think twelve people or maybe fourteen is the limit for the private table I have reserved. It is a table sitting a foot or so above a hole in the floor, which is where we all will be sitting, so you can't add more chairs or room. Our feet will be dangling down into the hole, our asses will be on the floor and our food will be on the table. I figure if you are already sitting on the floor, we have less distance to fall if someone (Blofeld, maybe) drinks more of the Roadkill Specials than he should.

Dress like the bosses would dress in some huge banking operation would dress and you'll fit right in. In other words, a dress. There is no dress code. This is LA dude, you can wear a suit or a CHUD shirt and be welcomed just about anywhere. I'll be lucky to remember to put on my pants before I show up and I want to sit next to Nicky!
Oh yeah. HAM took a bath today and I took one yesterday so we are both clean for the dinner in two and half days. Maybe I should sit next to Blofeld???
Oh yeah, I am judging a chili and bean cook off that afternoon before the dinner, so I should be in fine voice by dinner time. No, maybe I want to sit next to kronos.

FYI to all, there is a big <a href="http://www.sunsetjunction.org/streetfair.htm" target="_blank">street festival</a> this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at Sunset Junction in Silver Lake. There will be a bunch of bands including Mudhoney and Sonic Youth on Saturday night, and more bands on Sunday.
