Completely feasible as a film. Short[enough for a film, without gratuitous editing], disturbing, profound, full of atmosphere, and easy to work with. Do this, Hollywood.

I agree that this would be the most practical of his work to adapt to film. However (and I fully expect to be flamed for this) it is my least favorite his stories.
I would much rather see 'Children of the Night' or 'Carrion Comfort' (most definately my favorite) come to fruition.
I do know that he was approving scripts for 'Children of the Night'. But I haven't heard whether this has slipped into oblivion or not.

I've read neither of those works—since their presence eludes me in the bookstore(and at the library)—and I can't comment on their relative superiority. I do know that Song of Kali is a damn good book. And that adapting Hyperion would be totally daft.
Song of Kali is such an amazing book, but i am not sure the power of his writing with that one would translate well to the movies. Children of the Night seems like a movie already. It seems like a complete no brainer for a movie and I really hope that if it gets made whoever does it doesn't blow it.
The hyperion books would be great as one of those long running mini series, if done well. I harken back to the old TV Martian Chronicles, which, granted, I haven't seen in a lot of years, but which I remember being really good.

A properly done "Song of Kali" should scar movie goers for life. And I mean that in the best possible way.
"Children of the Night" would make a good romp.
"Carrion Comfort" might lose too much in the translation. Though I can just picture great actors loving the lead roles in this sucker.
Hyperion - mini-series would be the only way to go. Either that, or give Peter Jackson $500 million dollars and let him make all 4 at once! wink
