Just a question: why do all the songs sound so saturated? They sound seriously overmixed. Do they sound like this on the discs?
This isn't a slap in Package's face, I hope. I think the music is a blast. Especially 'I Like Spikes'. You kids are sly, sly, sly.

I think a lot depends on what you're listening with. PC speakers? $10 earphones?
The CD's sound ripping, and when they're available for purchase I think most will be happy as Patrick Dempsey.

Thanks for the feedback, Refrozen.
Just out of curiosity, can you elaborate on the problem?
When you say "saturated," do you mean too trebly? Bassy? Crackling? Tinny? Flat?
I want to get some specifics because I'd hate for there to be a problem we can't hear that others can, and have that be on the finished CDs.

I always thought you dropped the quality of the download stuff so that people would buy the real thing. Oops.
I think Nick is right about the speakers. That's most likely the problem. But to answer Micah's question, a lot of the recordings are kind of static-y and perhaps a little too bassy. I have a Nice Hard Slap, and the songs on there sound fine, better than the downloaded ones, so I'm sure Nick is probably right.

Well, I'm not a recording engineer, but judging by the graphic equalizer display, the levels are cranked across the board, but it's mainly in the high end. Is that a tambourine in the chorus of 'Spikes', or a pair of maracas?
Or are you just glad to see me?
I can reproduce it if I use WinAmp to convert .mp3's to .wavs (not for burning, no no) with the EQ turned on. I end up with not much in the way of dynamic range.
Have you tried downloading one of the songs from the site and giving that version a listen? I don't think this is the fault of my speakers, as Bobby Charles and The Band are sounding pretty good as I type this.

Thanks for the help, Refrozen.
Do me a big favor.
Listen and write down EQ/Sound quality comments about specific songs and email them to Nick.
If both you and HMT are hearing this, then I don't think it's your setup.
I appreciate the help.

I can do that. I'll send something off by tonight.

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Wow....I just listened to the hi-fi preview, and it is indeed, poop.
Oh yeah! I did send Nick a copy of...Bitches Leave, I think, along with something with lots of snare drum that sounded okay on my speakers. Whatever became of that?

The old program I used to convert files was Shane Masterson.
That means BAD.
If you get them off the Package site at CHUD they're sexy.
