I borrowed this movie from a friend the other day, remembering that as a kid i liked this movie, but apon watching it i realized how damn dumb it actually is.
Don't get me wrong i love the Evil Dead movies, and this is very Evil Deadish. But that is exactly what i do not like about this movie. I think that if Raimi would have taken this movie serious, then it would have been good, but with that cheesy direction it made it horrible.
The story was great and i think that if it were re-done then it would be great!
The acting was very poor, i just think that that is because everyone knew they type of comic-bookish, cheesiness feel that Raimi was trying to give it, so they just didn't care.
The makeup is great, and Elfmans score is good, but it sounded almost exactly like the Batman score! Is he too worked up in Batmans sucess that that was all he could think about while doing this movie? No because look at Nightbreed and Edward Scissorhands, they were all released the same year and they were different yet good, i just this that Raimi wanted that comic-book feel, and he knew that Batman was a comic-book movie, so he wanted a similar score to excentuate to goofiness of this movie!
One thing that i did really love, was the Bruce Campbell cameo! That was cool!
I haven't seen any of the 2 squels, but i will, were they like this, or were they actually serious films?
Overall a good score and great story, but with the cheesy direction and the i-dont-care acting jobs, this movie was horrible.

So thats that!
