Same as the chick draft, some real choice films were not selected:

There were a lot of movies I was suprised weren't taken. Swimming with Sharks, Caddyshack, and A Bronx Tale were a few that were on my list that didn't make the cut. I also comtemplated THe Monster Squad, Three Amigos (I don't think it was taken), and American Pie, to name a few.

Honestly, I was surprised by about 3/4ths of the films that WERE taken, but I suppose that's just because I don't really know you guys that well. What's been mentioned so far in this thread is just the tip of the iceberg. Here are a few of the titles on my depth chart that were passed over for the likes of Cherry 2000:
Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Lion King, The (1994)
Scream (1996)
The Third Man
Coming to America (1988)
Rashomon (1950)
Touch of Evil (1958)
On the Waterfront (1954)
Blood Simple (1984)
The French Connection
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Bull Durham (1988)
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
The Killing (1956)
Nosferatu (1922)
La Dolce vita
Hannah and Her Sisters (1986)
The King of Comedy (1983)
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Wild Strawberries (1957)
You Can Count on Me (2000)
Breathless (1960)
Nashville (1975)
Repulsion (1965)
Stranger Than Paradise (1984)
The Wicker Man (1973)
Blowup (1966)
Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989)
Nights of Cabiria (1957)
My Life to Live (1962)
Deep Red (1975)
The Tennant (1976)
3 Women (1977)
Lust for Life (1956)
Bullet for the General (1967)
River's Edge (1986)
The Tao of Steve (2000)
Barcelona (1994)
Hollywood Shuffle (1987)
The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984)
....and many, many more.

That's a good list, Cosmic! There are a few on that list that were difficult no-takes for me, especially Hannah and Her Sisters. But I got Manhattan...

Thanks, Blo. I wish I had a better sense of what tastes were in these parts coming into this draft, as I might have played it a little differently. I wouldn't have taken Paths of Glory all the way up in the second round, for instance, if I knew that even more well-known Kubrick fare like A Clockwork Orange would last past the fifth. Nonetheless, I can't complain with what I got. Even picking last, the only films I can say I TRULY regretted missing out on were GoodFellas, Dark City, and my favorite film of all time, Taxi Driver. Overall, my favorites list was really barely even touched, just as I think it's now safe for me to say that well over half the films taken in this draft are ones that wouldn't make my top 1000 list of favorites, much less a Top Ten.

I think there's a sad lack of films chosen that were released prior to 1970.

I had some films that were tough to pass over (1941, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Battle Beyond the Stars, to name a few), but I'm happy with my list. There's not a one on there I'd change.

I would have liked to have had about 60-70% of Django's list.
Another movie I almost picked up was Logan's Run. I thought it was a cool story, and it was the first time I ever saw boobies in a PG movie.

Logan's Run was another difficult no-take for me...

It was interesting to see where everyone was coming from. I began trying to play this Draft like a real draft, taking Fight Club first - not necessarily because I wanted it first, but because it would be worth something. In the end, there were only a handful of films that I would have wanted to trade for.
I could easily have gone to 20 picks, even in a full draft. It seems like I have very divergent tastes from many of my fellow Chewers.
I think I ended up with the oldest movie in the Draft - and the most black and white.

In retrospect, there is a lot I would have done differently in the movie draft. I could have gone for more classic films and had a plan going ahead of time.
Blo, I just watched Manhattan for the first time last week. I loved it!

Good to hear you've got a soft-yet-intellectual side, Low.

There are plenty or better films that Iknow that I could've taken... I pretty much used my movie geek mentality over my film film buff's- I figured that there would be enough of that... I stand corrected (dev and blo withstanding...)
