Since THE CHOSEN has not been loved in a while I didn't realize Steve's pick of EIGHT MEN OUT was raped. Instead he chooses FORBIDDEN PLANET.
Adam McAllister

I hate to do this, but I have to jump ahead 2 spaces since this might be the last time I see a PC for a few days... So, if it is a problem, feel free to masturbate.
I will close out with THE STING, unless of course it was already choosen and I missed it with that DAMN list! If it is, I will instruct LowShot who to kill off.

Fuck this, I'm going. I am picking a movie that I have never seen, and sadly, probably will not get to see for a while. All of my other picks have been horror movies, and I think that my round 10 pick is going to put a sizeable dent in the horror community. I am placing more faith in this movie than any other in my life.
Rob Zombie's HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES.
Well, here's hoping that it's not ass.
Innocent X
03-10-2001, 09:10 PM

My last pick is:
FACE-OFF.
Why is everybody re-capping their picks? Isn't there another thread for that already?
Micah Robinson

I have no idea where I am in the order anymore, but this round is going on its third day, so I figure it's safe. My picks up to this point:
1) Almost Famous - I knew it would be one of my favorite movies before Crowe even started filming it. When I saw it, it more than lived up to my expectations.
2) This is Spinal Tap - If you've ever been in a band, you understand, and you probably know the lines by heart.
3) True Romance - Tarantino should let other directors film more of his scripts. The story deserved a mainstream, glossy production and it got it.
4) High Fidelity - If you don't relate to Cusack's character, you know someone who does. Despite the English to American transition, a perfect adaptation, too.
5) Singles - That Crowe dialogue and that soundtrack. And I never realized how great Bridget Fonda is in it until I watched it again the other day.
6) The Commitments - Great music wonderfully recreated. And it's an accurate portrayal of a band being built from the ground up and disintegrating. Almost Famous is the dream, but the Commitments is probably closer to the reality.
7) The Apartment - The partial inspiration for American Beauty and Jerry Maguire (according to Mendes and Crowe), and a brilliantly underplayed performance by Jack Lemmon. I finally understood why people liked Shirley Maclaine when I saw this.
8) Some Like It Hot - More great Lemmon moments (in drag, no less), plus Marilyn Monroe and one of the funniest final lines in movie history.
9) South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut - From "Uncle Fucka" on, I never laughed as hard and as often as when I saw this for the first time.
Given the music and comedy slant, my list needs something wacked out for balance. And wacked out my last pick certainly is...
10) SANTA SANGRE -
Seriously crazy stuff (Down Syndrome patients on acid, an elephant funeral, castration by acid burn) that threatens to go off into purely visual shock territory, but manages to keep it all together plot-wise.

THE SANDLOT
My complete list:

2) The Truman Show
3) Boogie Nights
4) Toy Story 2
5) Toy Story
6) One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Jason Pollock
03-11-2001, 10:08 PM
Figure it's close enough, I'm not steppin' on any toes, and I'm not that far outta' turn, so for my final selection, I take the Legendary American Classic-
RUDY RAY MOORE'S THE AVENGING DISCO GODFATHER.
"Where IS Bucky-and WHAT HAS he HAD?!"
"Put yo' WEIGHT ON IT!!"

I'm not going to be available for the rest of the night, so I'll just do this now. I'm going for a sentimental pick for Round 10. It was the last movie I saw with Nick and everyone before I moved out of Atlanta. As a film, it's pants, but it's fun.
I choose CONGO.
