Nice pick on DTRT, Innocent. You seen the Criterion disc? Great stuff - especially the behind the scenes stuff that Spike shot. Utterly fascinating.
Innocent X
03-01-2001, 01:23 PM
Thanks, and it's interesting you mention that. I've actually been using my draft as a "DVD Wish List" so I'm not picking anything that I currently own. So I expect to get DTRT soon.

damn, my dark horse Midnight Run got grabbed
Nick Nunziata
03-01-2001, 05:38 PM
Midnight Run was my #9 pick.

I have the Jack Ryan Series and the Ghostbusters Series!
BOW BEFORE ME!
Now, we'll see how the rest of this pans out!

Ah yes, Midnight Run. If you want it, I may be willing to take The Thing off your hands for it as an even swap. I'm currently weighing other offers, so you better act fast.
The Duke
03-01-2001, 06:59 PM
And Dave, the same goes for you and Star Wars.
I'm in my generous mood today.

What do you care?
Innocent X
03-02-2001, 11:54 AM
Not sure A-P. It's going to slow down into the weekend anyway. We'll see how it goes.

I have no idea what I'm going to draft this round.
devilf
03-02-2001, 01:41 PM
As far as I can tell, I have the most black and white movies in this Draft. Hmmm. I may have the oldest one, too.
A-Pathetic
03-02-2001, 01:43 PM
The number of recent films I'm drafting is actually surprising me. I would love to grab some older movies, but I keep thinking up more recent films that I love. Besides that, Casablanca was taken right out from under me.
trippingbillie41
03-02-2001, 04:46 PM
This draft has gone lightyears faster than the first one, but today seems to be dragging a little. Is everyone ditching work today? Or are folks actually working at work today?
Blofeld
03-02-2001, 04:51 PM
I'm waiting on Davis. If he doesn't go soon, I'll take his film right out from under him.
Nick Nunziata
03-05-2001, 09:06 AM
The Mexican was chosen. I can't wait to see the debate.
Innocent X
03-05-2001, 10:39 AM
The Mexican. Yeah that was a shock.
A-Pathetic
03-05-2001, 11:15 AM
It was DJ Dylan, who has already proven to have taste pretty divergent from the rest of us so it's kind of hard to get in a twist about it. At least it wasn't Blair Witch 2.
LowShot
03-05-2001, 01:38 PM
Yeah, that is true. I liked the Beach, but it's not a "watch over and over and over" film.
Innocent X
03-05-2001, 03:43 PM
Hey, anyone down with instituting a Double Pick (two movies) for Round 8?
devilf
03-05-2001, 04:25 PM
I'm iffy on a double pick...
If Round 7 ends at 4, are we starting 8 right then? I wanna get the fuck home early while i can use the weather as an excuse.
trippingbillie41
03-05-2001, 04:30 PM
flyers, American Beauty was the first pick of Round 7 (by the Equivocator). Choose something else.
Innocent X
03-05-2001, 04:43 PM
Yeah, I don't know about the double pick idea either, but I wanted to throw the idea out there for discussion.
I was thinking that Round 8 would start at 6pm.
Django
03-05-2001, 06:02 PM
Fire up round 8 ASAP cause I'm bored.
1 movie pick per turn. We discussed this at the start of this draft and called no joy. I saw we finish this as it began.
We have till Friday after all at least...
Nick Nunziata
03-05-2001, 06:19 PM
I put the kibosh on double pick in a thread before this draft started.
On with round 8!
Django
03-05-2001, 06:33 PM
And I have three requests for future drafts.
1. Weapons and Technology
2. Vehicles and Ships
3. Rock Bands A Go-Go
Django
03-05-2001, 06:35 PM
HAM YOU BASTARD!!!
You can't go to the Team Django Backyard Hoedown with special musical guest Rick Springfield for this.
And we're gonna serve food on little white sticks and everything...
trippingbillie41
03-05-2001, 06:42 PM
Fuck you, HAM!!!!!!!!
Shit, I knew I shouldn't have held off on that one for so long.
Neil Bung
03-05-2001, 06:46 PM
That's what I love about this draft! Mean Streets followed by Masters of the Universe! The scope is practically unimaginable.
And I've gotta say, all notions of "art," "greatness," and all that pompous "serious filmgoer" stuff aside, I think Django's got the collection that I would least get bored with, besides my own.
Are we gonna be voting on who has the best list in this draft or will it just sort of trail off like the last one?
Neil Bung
03-05-2001, 06:47 PM
Okay, I admit it. I was gushing just so that I'd get to see Rick Springfield.
Jason Pollock
03-05-2001, 06:47 PM
Yeah, well-I'd be willing to trade for JUST ABOUT EVERY GOD DAMN THING YOU TOOK THAT DOESN'T HAVE MELANIE GRIFFITH IN IT.
You decimated my list, Hondo.
Seriously-from Phantom Menace on, nearly everything you chose was slated to go my way.
Way I figure it, though, it's fine-we'll be hanging out enough on the island that we can do film fests and what not-and you're more than welcome to share in the bounty of my harem-anyone not named Claire, Cate, or Mo is fine.
We can even go liberate Lady Django from whatever chowderhead snagged her. I know Outlaw piced Rollins, and Hank is loyal to me-so we've got a swank little triad to take on that Delta Force operation...
See-everything's gonna' be fine. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif
Django
03-05-2001, 06:51 PM
OK, fine, shit. You can see Springfield.
Besides, as much as I wanted Heigl at the time, Jennifer Morrison is the new Lady Django. And Billie's a good kid and a member of the team to boot.
But I'm all for liberating JLH from whichever jarhead has her...
Jason Pollock
03-05-2001, 06:55 PM
Well, I think the scope of things is very cool, but I can tell you that while love a film Like Lawrence of Arabia, it's not something it could watch six times a day. Nor is it anything that makes me feel anything beyond the emotional involvement in its rousing spectacle.
I'm choosing films that have stayed with me because of my life at the time, or who I was with when I saw them-sometimes, and I don't really think I NEED to tell anyone here this-it's what the movie means to you personally that makes it what it is. There are films that most people would look at as servicable that become classic to others because of their mindset or a series of events surrounding the film. A lot of what I've chosen hinges on that aspect.
trippingbillie41
03-05-2001, 06:55 PM
I think Innocent X snatched Jennifer Love Funbags.
Did anyone else stay all the way through the Masters of the Universe credits to see Skeletor rise up from the liquid to claim he'd be back?

I take offense at the word "jarhead."
Django
03-05-2001, 07:05 PM

Limpdicked Jenny Snatchin' Shithead?
And HAM, I follow you completely. That's why I got two Timmy Thomerson movies within seven...
Jason Pollock
03-05-2001, 07:30 PM
Yep. In the theater.
I'm still waiting.

Django, I'll hook you up with a night of firey passion with Kirsten Dunst, if I can bring my lovely ladies over for a screening of Episode 1, and The Last Starfighter.
God, I love message board where you can barter sex with actresses for watching films. Ain't CHUD grand?

Sweet.
And you guys thought I was nuts for pickin' Ep 1...

Innocent X
03-06-2001, 11:36 AM
Return of the Joker was eligible? I thought it was only theatrical releases?
Nick Nunziata
03-06-2001, 11:53 AM
Then it ain't eligible.
Carl Cunningham
03-06-2001, 12:05 PM
And the Uncut version TECHNICALLY doesn't even exist http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif
Jason Pollock
03-06-2001, 01:00 PM
Actually, the rules were that as long as it's at IMDB, is a feature, and played somewhere before TV-it's valid.
Direct-to-Video is fine.
Of course, to specify "uncut", is not, and If it is-then I'm gonna' be a tad on the pissed side, because that means that theatrically-released films that have been offered in the home market as a director's cut, special edition, or uncut version, are now acceptable.
And that means I can select The Medieval Dead, Captain Supermarket (the flick, not the guy) The Exorcist Director's Cut, or The Exorcist: THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN (how dumb WAS that subtitle?).
So direct-to-vid? Yep.
Unrated? Nope.
There you go.

Sing along, bitches...
Ee he o he-o cowboy
Ee he o he-o oooo
Ee he o he-o cowboy, cowboy, cowboy
Under the moon.
I was riding my horse
Down by the Rio Grand-ee
And all of the coyotes singin' singin'
In a prairie symphony.
I was riding my horse
Down by the Rio Grand-ee
When I see me a cowboy, cowboy, cowboy
Ridin' towards me.
Ee he o he-o cowboy
Ee he o he-o oooo
Ee he o he-o cowboy, cowboy, cowboy
Under the moon.
Giddyup...

Wow, the draft didn't move as much as I thought it would through the evening.
And I thought Superman may have slipped under the radar. Damn...

Well played, clerks.

I have not seen "Dude, Where's My Car?", Dylan, so you will get no shit from me.
Neil Bung
03-07-2001, 01:50 PM
Thanks, dev! Unfortunately, my choices have resulted in me not getting "Dude, Where's My Car?"
Okay, not really.
(Hey, is Treasure of the Four Crowns still available? The first 3D movie I ever saw in a theater...)

Hey Imperator, I assume by the quote you mean the Michael Mann LOTM, but Flint took that in Round 6 already.

03-08-2001, 04:18 PM

Yes, Walter Hill's The Warriors (1979?) is the version that I selected. I better keep an eye on that Adam guy -- he's a sneaky bastard. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif
