As the first draft winds down (with me having the sexiest harem...) we begin the new one (the following two drafts are superheroes and then movie characters).
It will start TONIGHT at 6pm. There will still be little things added to the old draft, but it will start tonight with this order:
1. The Equivocator
2. Poxy Von Sinister
3. Devilf
4. A-Pathetic
5. Imperator GAC
6. Dave Davis
7. Blofeld
8. Steve Murphy
9. Mickey Knox
10. Carl Cunningham
11. Flint
12. Django
13. Smilin' Jack Ruby
14. TrippingBillie
15. Seahawk
16. Esdee
17. Willko
18. Nick Nunziata
19. Forklift
20. Adam McAllister
21. Lowshot
22. Grim Fist
23. Innocent X
24. Neil Bung
25. DJ Dylan
26. Abobo
27. The Duke
28 Patrick Sauriol
29 Micah Robinson
30. Raoul Duke
31. Hellblazer
32. The Outlaw Torn
33. Legless Dog
34. HAM
35. U2 Shark
36. Widgett
37. Y.T.
38. Big Round Sailor
39. Sean Fahey
40. Fallen Angel (are you still playing?)
41. Scarab X
42. Flyers
43. Cosmic Ray
44. Wheel 99
We have to polish certain aspects of the way this is handled. Also, I want to suggest that the trading round (round 5) also have a new twist: Each person drafts 2 flicks at the same time (nobody better steal MEATBALLS 3 from me!).
Anyway, use this forum to suggest ways to make this draft unlike the leg of the first one, with people disappearing into Merlin's cave for long stretches of time.

I just think we should take a look at any of the people in the Movie Draft who did disappear into Merlin's cave during the Chick Draft and make sure that they e-mail some sort of confirmation that they are involved and that they e-mail their picks to someone before they are supposed to go if they aren't going to be around or they will get skipped.

Oh btw, movie character draft is an awesome idea because there are so many characters I'd take from films, but I wouldn't take the actual films in a film draft. As always Nick, you're always thinking. You're the man.

Also, the time schedule was paramount in making the chick draft get moving again. Let's use it.
What are the top excuses for tardiness?
"Oh, I live in Latveria, and we're on a different time...."
"Oh, I didn't realize I was up...."
"Sorry, I'm late. I was...."
NO more. We schedule times for people to go, and post the times 3 days in advance. You ALWAYS know exactly when your pick is coming, and if you can't be there, you email it or lose it. No excuses, no exceptions.
Athletic drafts have time limits, and so should the movie one.
If we use scheduling, we can finish the movie draft in 2 weeks, tops.

The time thing is cool, as long as there's not a group of people set up to go at a certain time, like picks 18 through 22 at say 9pm.
At least for the beginning of the draft, each person should be given a time to make their pick without someone behind them getting the advantage of going at the same time.

I think we should just eliminate anyone who can't make the time to participate. I don't like the rigid scheduling. It's anal, it just so happens that the babe draft started to drag. This one'll be quicker, since it can be done in a flash.
Maybe we should have a few "spotters" to keep things in play but I don't want it to become a chore for folks.

I just don't want to be penalized/despised for not being able to stay up 'til all hours of the night. Just give us the option to e-mail in a pick with a few alternates in case we don't think we'll be awake/available when our turn comes around, and default to those if we don't pick after a certain amount of time.

I don't think people should be penalized for not staying up late. And the scheduling I suggested, at least for the first 7 rounds, is that everyone have an hour all to themselves. They'll know a couple days in advance when that hour is, so that they can prepare.
So if today is a Thursday, and you see on the schedule that you are up on Saturday at 1AM and you are sleeping or whatever, just email the pick and some alternates in. How hard is that? Not a chore in the least.
Not to sound like a hardliner, but the draft is only a chore when people refuse to draft in a timely fashion and they refuse to follow requested procedures.
Just my suggestions, N-dog. It's your world. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Hey, also I had an idea for the next draft after the scheduled ones. Movie Soundtracks/Scores. We'll need to listen to something on the island when we're not busy watching films or pleasuring our harems.

I'm with Nick on nixing the rigid/anal scheduling. I've been one of the best about being around when it's my turn but even I don't like that. Some of us have lots to do, ya know? Mikah's idea of emailing is good and fair but I fear chaos.
And I second Lowshot's Film Score draft idea. Brilliant! http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Hey Nick, I was reading the rules over on the babe draft -- is this draft going to be similarly password protected?

I only have internet access at work, so for me that means no weekends and no late nights. I don't want to see that I'm up at 3AM on a Saturday, cause there just is no way in hell I can make that, and I don't want to email my pick in because I would like to see what others are picking in front of me.
I much prefer a looser style.

no one cares devil.jk.there are reasons for both ways,i just happen to find that its easier for me to go at a predefined time.so i dont have to sit at my computer to wait for the person in front of me to go all day.

I got a huge f**king problem with this.
First off if you can't make your time or e-mail somebody you picks to post, too f-ing bad Skippy.
Secondly and most importantly by allowing us TWO picks per turn, not only to you give those higher up an unfair advantage over everyone else, but you guarantee that there will be almost zero high profile movies left.
While I have no problem choosing Megaforce as a pick, I would have liked to have a Star Wars, Carpenter, Cameron, and John Woo movie on my list as well...

As long as Garbage Pail Kids: The Movie is safely in my possession, I don't care what the rules are.

Alright, SCREW the 2 pick idea. Also, we're not using the scheduled time structure unless we need it in later rounds.
However, it IS YOUR responsibility to keep an eye on things. Also, when you make your first pick, put YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS there so we can hunt you down for subsequent votes.

I think the two-picks-per-round is only supposed to happen in the trading round (round 5), not throughout the whole draft, isn't it?
By then, I bet we'll be pretty clear of Star Wars, Cameron, Carpenter, and Woo, and heading straight into Megaforce territory.

Bumping this because I have a question:
Does a film have to have had a US theatrical release to be eligible? And yes, I'm serious.
