I'm just glad others appreciated Natasha Gregson Wagner as well. She didn't even get drafted last year! But, she was HIGH on my list then... I just managed to get 10 of my top 15 in my depth chart last year. When it came to Round 10, it was between her and Jenna Jameson. And, well... you gotta have a dirty girl every now and then http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

As far as the voting... I expressed some ideas to Nick, but all of that is up in the air at the moment. I'm sure he'll decide something soon. But we're only half way there... no reason to worry about that just yet.

Just all kneel before me and my harem of horny harlets! http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

Nick Nunziata
02-02-2001, 08:53 PM
Which idea?

Carl Cunningham
02-02-2001, 08:59 PM
Having all of the draftees (42 of us now) each vote with their list of the best Harems from 1 to 41 (you can't vote for your own). Then we also have about 20-30 folks from the site who didn't participate in the draft vote the same way (1 to 42). A first place vote counts for 42 points, 2nd place... 41, and last place gets 1 point, and so on.

You add all of the points up and it's simple: the higher the points the higher the ranking. It's scientifically proven to reflect the true "winner" in the eyes of the voters. This is how it is done for rankings in college sports, for voting on baseball awards, hall of fame, the Oscars, etc.

It would be a task, but I'm willing to help.

Carl Cunningham

How else do you propose we do it while reflecting "true" rankings? If everyone just picked their Top 5, it would actually be more complicated to come up with the "final" Top 5 and lots of folks would be left out.

If I'm #39 in the minds of everyone else, I want to know. It's part of the fun of the draft... everyone else's tastes vs your own.

I don't know. It was just a proposal.

Wheel99,

hehehe...I have tons of women on my list that NO ONE WILL PICK EVER...some of them were on NBC, some were in movies in the Eighties, all except Anna Paquin are 80's stars (Twin Peaks was 1989 so Madchen squeaks in...bonus!). Anna and I have a special relationship...

flint
02-05-2001, 12:10 PM
It's a real saying. You won't find it in any dictionary, but it's common slang (especially up north and in some parts of Ireland). Do a search on the web, you'll turn up a couple of sites with the phrase in it!!!

devilf
02-05-2001, 12:23 PM
Where does it come from?

Who is Mitch, and did he often skip work?

flint
02-05-2001, 12:35 PM
devilf, I thought only the newbies were allowed to ask who Mitch was? http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

I've just done some exhaustive, two minute, research on the phrase (which I use all the time and have never thought about once), and have discovered that it is primarily Irish (Dublin) slang and is associated more with skipping school than work. No one on the web has any clue other than that where the word came from!

Anyway, can I draft yet or what?

02-05-2001, 01:52 PM
Ok.
Question....
Ive been reading through the Draft, and one aspect of it makes NO DAMN sense.

We have a guy and a girl choosing MEN.

The reason it makes no sense:

The idea was a competition for the most coveted women, and then a vote on who beat out the others to have the greatest babe harem..........
With only 2 people pickeing MEN, #1 They have no competition- Might as well pick all 10 choices up front, no one ELSE is gonna pick them! and 2 I doubt the people voting are gonna choose one of the MEN lists as the best.

If there are enough woman ( and men) who want to choose men, a SEPERATE DRAFT would make more sense.

I hope that made sense.

Nick Nunziata
02-05-2001, 01:58 PM
Well, I think it's great. Adam's picked a guy. FFG has a nice mix. Y.T. is a lady. Carl may pick a guy and Steve's banking on Kane Hodder being available for his 10th rounder.

First and foremost is to have a list.

Who gets picked by the masses may surprise us all. Next year, we'll have a more eclectic mix (People will pick animals!).

But even Kathie Lee is younger than Lena http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

In all seriousness, Kathie Lee NEVER looked as good or had as nice a bod as Nikki Cox, period. Plus, Nikki is intelligent and has a great attitude. Besides, I do believe that I have nabbed the two hotest red heads in the draft with her and Angie Everhart (unless you count Shannon Elizabeth and Connie Nielsen, who I don't see as true red heads).

I dunno, Carl. As far as redheads go, I'd put Alicia Witt on a good day (admittedly, there are some photos of her out there that are less than stellar) up against Cox, who has a great body, but is somewhat 'eh' in the face dept.

Actually, I'd put virtually anyone up against either of them, since that's quite a visual.

Connie Nielson should permanently go redhead. She outclassed Charlize Theron by about a million percent in Devil's Advocate.

In what movie does Shannon Elizabeth have red hair?

Innocent X
02-06-2001, 02:02 AM

...And now for something completely different!

Innocent X
02-06-2001, 10:16 AM
Well first the "outclassing" done in Devil's Advocate is based purely on character. Nielsen was a sophisticated international lawyer and Theron was a white trash automobile impounder from Florida. So if you define class as the grace and assuredness that you carry yourself, sure, Nielsen outclassed Charlize in that film.

But if you've ever seen Miss Theron at the Oscars or the Globes or some other event, you know that she is one of the most graceful and confident ladies in the business, a truely glamorous movie star at time when there are few. Which would also lend some credence to her ability as an actress since she is able to hide her true persona while in character, as she did in Advocate.

Neil Bung
02-06-2001, 10:41 AM
Actually, since I was in sexist pig mode, I was considering looks alone. In fact, I'd say Nielson in that movie looks better than Theron in general, even when Theron's not playing trailer trash. I mean, she's undeniably beautiful by most standards, but just not my cup of tea.

But, of course, all this stuff is subjective. As far as actual "class," I'm sure they're both very nice people. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

continuing the conversation in the Draft thread about accepting Thalia, i don't recall seeing anything in the initial rules about whether the movie was foreign or direct-to-video or whether it's actually seen by anyone. the rules only state the actress has to have appeared in "a film" and it can't be just a porno. further stipulation probably should have been made at the beginning, but i don't think it should be brought into question in the 6th round. of course, that's just my opinion

flint
02-06-2001, 01:31 PM
That's a little unfair Innocent, we don't know why Fright Flick Guy backed out. There are a number of things slightly more important to me than this draft... (well, three actually) but stuff in the real world can always intrude.

I really don't know what life issue could stop you from coming to a message board once every three days and naming a girl (or a guy) you want. Doesn't seem to be that big of a commitment. But whatever.

A better solution could be rattling off a list to Nick of 20 people and say, use whoever is not picked please.

What's unfair is someone getting into this draft and picking a chick that say I want right before I was going to choose them and then later dropping that chick off because they quit and then that chick falls into the hands of those at the top of the draft board. So I get fucked over because someone wasn't interested enough to play till the end. Totally unfair. It's not really a concern in FFG's case to me because of his type of draft picks, but it's a possibility with someone else.

If we continue to do these drafts, this sort of half-assed interest should be eliminated beforehand. Yeah, this is supposed to be stupid fun and it is, but the most fun I'm having is enjoying other's interest in this thing, how involved they are getting, in seeing who they come up with. It's a competition. When someone isn't being competitive or drops out, it taints the whole process and lessens the enjoyment for me.

And it's going to affect things ten-fold when we do a movie draft because I'm betting people are going to take that even more seriously. Can you imagine if FFG had a handful of great movies people wanted and then all of the sudden dropped out, leaving prime-time picks at the hands of the top of the draft board? What if he picks Star Wars right before you were going to go? Way more bellyaching will occur than with chicks.

If FFG had to leave, that's his business, I hope it's nothing serious, but either the interest of the player needs to be assured before the draft, or the rules need to be altered for when people drop out because we are setting ourselves up for some real bitchfests once the movie draft occurs.

This is our concern Dude.

[This message has been edited by Innocent X (edited 02-06-2001).]

Micah Robinson
02-06-2001, 02:02 PM
Dave, I agree with you, HOWEVER.....

What is "a film"? Can you pick any actress out of any TV series that was compiled on home video or DVD recently? How do we know that wasn't the case with the chicks like Peta Wilson and Thalia? Their "films" could have been TV efforts in their respective countries dumped to home video. All I know is that you can't order the Peta Wilson stuff on VHS or DVD to check.

I know my position may be precarious being that I was personally involved in the OTHER draft controversy, but my point remains the same.

I want us all to have plenty of fun, and obscure picks are welcome, but not so obscure that no one can actually see their work. You could walk into any Blockbuster right now, and rent a film that was released theatrically that has any of my 6 picks in it. For some people, you could order their films off of Amazon. But if there is no way you can actually see the "movie" work of these actresses, it seems a little dubious to me.

But again, I moved to allow the pick. I just wanted to raise a few points while doing so.

Dave Davis
02-06-2001, 02:47 PM
again, i just think that all should have been stipulated before the draft began, not during. since the guidelines were fairly elastic, some of the choices are bound to be questionable. for instance, what about a movie like "Rogue Trader" or "A Murder of Crows", which has stars like Cuba Gooding Jr and Ewan MacGregor, but winds up premiering on cable? are they therefore not "films"? if you're not going to define it ahead of time, you can't really hold anyone to an interpretation of the vague term as it is.

the guideline i am using is that if it's listed on IMDB and it's not a TV series, it's a film and therefore eligible, regardless of whether it's foreign, direct-to-video, or culled from BBC episodes

Innocent, I understand your frustration. It's annoying when people bow out and confusion ensues (as was sorely evidenced last week).

HOWEVER, I actually CAN think of several reasons that would keep folks from staying in tune with the draft consistently. For example, my mother-in-law has terminal cancer and it could really be any time when THE PHONE CALL happens. God forbid, if/when that happens you bet your ass I won't be around for several days... no matter WHAT is going on online. Websites be damned (including my own), priorities come first. And if I came back and saw a post like yours to Fright Flick Guy I would be MORE than pissed off and offended.

This is a GAME... it is FUN. Yes, those who take part need to make the committment. But if something happens and someone drops out let's PLEASE try to give them the benefit of the doubt. There really ARE a zillion things more important.

That said, this is STILL a fun treatin' part of my day. Nick has created a fun as hell (and mostly benign) monster that we all devour happily. And while we've had our minor bumps here and there it's been going on quite smoothly, IMHO. I'm having fun, and I'm sure you are too.

Now, back to the GOODS http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Nick Nunziata
02-06-2001, 05:19 PM
And I'll casually mention that FFG was making a very diverse little talent pool of MALE and FEMALE actors, and there have been a few very unsubtle responses to such. Show a little couth, fellers.

Jason Pollock
02-06-2001, 05:34 PM
Yeah, exactly. How come I get the feeling he left because of some unsavory comment somewhere?

And I like Dave's plan for who's valid. Realize that Dave saves most of you with his ideas, insomuch as if the rules were a little tighter, all of you kids that littered (and I do mean littered) your lists with MAXIM Clam would have nothing but gaping holes-

Quick-name a theatrically-released film that stars Tony Danza's TV brat?

Did I miss the major motion picture that Charisma Carpenter was in?

And lemme' tell you-I hate the notion that some are holding forth that if it is foreign, it doesn't count. That's jsut backward thinking.

Way I figure it, if it was shot on 16mm and got released to tape before television-it counts.

Perhaps I'm flogging the deceased object d' equestrian, but I've come to this late and I see that people are kind of getting outta' the spirit.

Come on, this is fun!

Micah Robinson
02-06-2001, 05:54 PM
Well, HAM, I didn't mean anything by the foreign film stipulation. But aside from IMDB, if you can't rent, buy, or even find a picture of a movie that someone was in, it's kinda hard to prove it exists.

Nonetheless, I agree with Dave, Nick, and everyone else. I don't like changing rules once a draft begins.
I too want nothing but fun.

Oh, and BTW, (and Carl will thank me for this), Alyssa Milano was in Fear, starring Mark Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon, and William Pedersen, which was most certainly theatrically released. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Neil Bung
02-06-2001, 06:03 PM
Well, I hope my initial observation that his list was sort of eclectic had nothing to do with FFG dropping out. I meant to make that as unjudgmental as possible. I was just curious where he was coming from. I gave him props (which I hope came off as legitimate) later for the diversity.

And HAM makes a good point. A ton of the draftees, while very hot, don't have the best track record on the big screen. Actually, if we were going by quality theatrical movies made by these actresses, it would be a WAY different list. I'd have to agree with Dave that everything non-TV on the IMDB goes.

You forgot to mention COMMANDO, for Christ!

Also, DOUBLE DRAGON & HUGO POOL (which I saw at the awful "art cinema" here in Atlanta) were both theatrically released.... likely more. And she's had uncredited cameos in a few others.

But that's not at all the point... her films are the type you WANT to view in private at home. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

Well, I wouldn't exactly call Miss Carpenter's movie "major", but dude, it had Michael Dorn, Pat Morita, and man among men Mean Gene Okerlund in it. That ain't exactly minor, baby. http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Oh, and a couple of observations before I go incognito for a while:

(1) Rhinestone Cowboy is a nasty mofo, because Roxie Roker has been dead for years.

(2)"wow,i think everyone here has gone faggoty on us,guys, why guys." If that's why FFG packed up and left, I don't blame him. That offended me when I read it this morning, and I'm all about the clam.
