Everyone had some games in mind that just didn't quite make the cut. What were yours? Post them and maybe a quick explanation as to why they didn't make it. Why do this? Because legendary prop comedian Gallagher commands you!
I'll post some of mine after I draft this afternoon.
Matt Goldberg
11-21-2002, 01:49 PM
Um, maybe this should wait until after the draft is completely over.

11-21-2002, 02:08 PM
Yeah, I thought about that, but figured it wouldn't be a big deal as lots of people were throwing around other games that haven't been drafted in the discussion threads.

Yeah, but the idea of this thread is games that didn't get drafted. Draft has not ended. Thus thread is kinda useless.
Edit to add: For now, that is.

Nick Nunziata:
Flashback
Yes.
And, had I remembered yesterday, I would have actually picked Out of This World, what I consider to be the "original" in that style of interactive adventure console game.
Fuck.

Flashback
Out of this World
Dr. Mario
Worms 2
The Immortal
Space Invaders
Twisted Metal 2

there's more, I can't think of them. A lot of these were from series where similar games were picked, making mine moot. i.e. picking Worms 2 when Worms Armageddon was already gone.

Frost:
Lode Runner (Apple II)
Rescue Raiders (Apple II)[b]
Hell yes and hell yes. Those two would be on my honorable mentions list as well. Rescue Raiders was one of the first games I had for the Apple, and my fond memories of it are boundless. Not only a great action game, but one that required quite a bit of strategy to win. Good choices.

Pengo, now that's a game that I played for hours at the local Chuck & Cheese as well as Nintendo Tennis. I still remember greasy joysticks and the scent of fried chicken and soggy pizzas. Ah, the good ol' days.
Andrew, nice pick on 720º!

The great billylove had chosen Pitfall.

720° reminds me of another great game: Skate or Die for the NES.
Oh, and another great PC game, System Shock 2. That game is seriously scary.

From my original list of forty, here's what remained:
From my idea to just pick the crapiest games should all my favorites get taken:
Superman 64 (N64)
Zelda: Wand of Galemon (CDi)
And my favorite on sheer concept alone -
Custard's Revenge (Atari)
Real honorable mentions go to:
Tekken 3 (PSX)
Wolfenstein 3-D (PC)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
Crash Bandicoot: Warped (PSX)
Arkanoid (Arcade)

Though I wasn't in the draft I'd have to say you guys were great. I hope to get into the next draft and be apart of it.
One thing though I still can't believe nobody has even listed Earthbound (SNES) as a Honorable Mention.

Awesome list, Blunt. You're a stronger man than I am.
I do have a question though: Bonk. Did you mean Bonk's Adventure for the TurboGrafx 16? Or is this a completely different Bonk?
Quackshot and Castle of Illusion were fantastic Disney games. I had many sleepless nights where I'd be bouncing around on my derriere, courtesy of COI.
Hell yeah, and The Lost Vikings! Man, such a fun game. Now I remember Lemmings (it was hard to play on the SNES, but fun nevertheless).
And when you mentioned the Genesis version of Aladdin (very fluid animation for a 16-bit), all of a sudden I remembered the arcade game Rolling Thunder. These guys are really thin but they move quite fluidly as well. Totally unrelated, but then that connected to Ikari Warriors (what the hell do you call those rotating joysticks?!).
Hell yeah too for Prince of Persia. Out of this World and Flashback are great bedfellows.
So many games.....

System Shock 2, Civ II, RC Pro Am, Link to the Past, and.......Ninja Gaiden(?)
Ever since my first post in this thread, I've had Out of this World in the back of my mind. Its really been pissing me off that I *forgot* it. It was on my damn list, too the extent of doing the Mr. Burns-hands-wringing with every round that it lasted.
Maybe someday in the near future, my boxes of earthly possessions might actually make it across their own Oregon trail to my new home, and when they do, a rousing session of World is in order. Followed by Flashback, cause that should have been picked too, and I still gots all da ol' cartridges, yo.

Mind you, it was called PC Kid Adventure over here, but I remembered that the US title was Bonk, forgetting about the "adventure" bit. But yeah same, game, little prehistoric guy smashing foes with his head.
And I'm not the bigger man, just a poor little geek who has spend the better part of the last 11 years playing games while he should have been out kissing girls wink

Correct me if I'm wrong: Did no one take any of the Madden games?
Michael Rabattino

To name a few:
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Kingpin: Life of Crime
Shenmue
For whatever reason, I didn't pick them.
