This is a very tough choice today. All the great games have been taken.....now, for these last 2 rounds it's gonna be up to us to pull out those obscure gems.Actually, I've got three greats up my sleeve, and all I need are two. I highly doubt I'm going to have to dig into my obscure pile.

As slow as Round 8 was, it ended with 32 posts/picks just like the round before it, and close to the 35 in the Round 6 thread.

There is ONE classic Lucas Arts adventure game left (barring all the Monkey Island that haven't been taken). If there is some justice, someone will draft it. If not, shame on you guys.

And good pick on Sam and Max, even though I've always been much more of a Day of the Tentacle guy.

nice pick, nick. my grandpa had that game. he was a gambling addict until he got sick... i think he still gambles online, though. when i was younger, i would go over there and play it... it's how I learned how to gamble. fun game.

It was a role playing gambling game for the SNES. You had people come up annd ask for favors while you were gambling and sometimes it'd burn you and others you'd make a killing. You'd get robbed, get to pick which friend you brought with you, and much more. A classic, classic game.

You'd get robbed, get to pick which friend you brought with you, and much more. A classic, classic game.I have Vegas Stakes on Gameboy, and it has all the features you mention. Most Casino games are boring, but that sucker livin's things up a bit. If only they'd make a new Vegas Stakes for a next generation console... things could be freaky-good.

Goddamn you Burke, that was my tenth round pick. One of the most underrated Rare classics on the N64 ever, and still a blast to play. The thought of never having a next-gen sequel caused me to shed my only tear for Rare's departure from the Big N.

I know which one you speak of, and it's one that I never played/beat. I'm gonna try to find it on Kazaa so I can feel right about drafting it.

But I know it's a classic if it's the one i'm thinking of.

While that is a great pick Micah (WWF No Mercy), I just believe that WCW/nWo Revenge was the better improvement over its predecessor (WCW vs. nWo: World Tour). No Mercy was just a slight improvement over Wreslemania 2000. Hell, to be perfectly honest, I pciked No Mercy but then edited my post to draft Revenge. I just had more fun with Revenge. No Mercy just didn't suprise me as much as Revenge did. Then again I like the WCW property better than WWF despite its demise. Oh, and RedAlert2 is better than any of that D&D shit. Nice.

Ugh, now I'm having drafter's remorse. Of course, an hour after I made my Rd. 9 pick, I think of 5 other games I would rather have picked. I could change it, seeing as how no one else has gone so far today, but I don't think that would be particularly fair. Oh well, live and learn.

Anyone else have this feeling about one of your picks?

Besides, you could create virtually any character (WCW or WWF) that you wanted with No Mercy because it had so many moves and outfits, so it didn't matter that it was a WWF game.

No Mercy was the grand finale of the golden age of console wrestling games. After it, there were only inferior WWF games, and to this day, every fan compares new wrestling games TWO GENERATIONS LATER to good ole' No Mercy, and they are all found to be lacking in comparison.

Pro Wrestling was definitely the best wrestling game. King Slender, Kin Corn Karn, Star Man -- that game ruled.

Pro Wrestling was incredibly fun, but if you also happen to like the shows, real-life characters, and making a career with them and your own custom characters, no game brings that to you as well as No Mercy - PLUS it has the simple fun of arcade-ish games like Pro Wrestling.

Bret took another excellent pick on what I feel is THE best King's Quest game. I had a bad experience playing with part 7 because at the time, I was naive and owned a Packard Bell 486SX (not DX, but SX). It was the cheapest PC I was able to convince my mom from getting. Well, that PC was practically worthless in running King's Quest VII: The Princeless Bride. Even with the boot disk it ran slow as it had to run in a Windows environment -- Windows 3.1 to be exact (I was using WfWorkgroups). For some reason I cringed at the Disneyesque look of the game (the Sound Of Music-inspired opener made my eyes bleed). Overall though, it's still a fun game. One just needed a blazing Pentium MMX machine.
