Hmm. What a surprise. Heston directed himself in a TV movie of 'A Man for All Seasons?' Didn't see it. There's no reason to see it.
The theatrical film is a marvel, and Paul Scofield's performance as Moore is one of the finest performances ever captured on film.

I knew someone would mention his miscast performance in Touch of Evil.
Chalk up a vote for Moses.

Heh. That's funny, because I don't think he's miscast at all, but c'est la vie.
Chalk one up for Orson Welles...

Omega Man. Hammy, but in an amusing Ash-like way.

Not one of his most famous roles, but The Naked Jungle, where he battles an army of ants. It's just the quintessential Heston role, this Ayn Rand-y self-made man's man. Plus, he battles an army of ants. Regular sized ants, at that.

I'm not a big fan. I like the Planet of the Apes movies. I haven't seen Soylent Green. The best movie Heston is in (other than Bowling for Columbine, which shouldn't count) is Touch of Evil. He gives a good performance in the movie as well. A lot of people think he was miscast, as do I. I would never have expected him to pull it off, but he did.
